An early nineteenth century (watermarks 1810, 1817-18) collection of Welsh pedigrees extracted [by R. Sims, genealogist] from BM Harleian MSS 5058, 6153, 2300, 2291, 4181, 2289, 2288, 6164, 2218, 5058, 1975, 4181, and 6831. At the end of the volume are some Glamorgan and Carmarthenshire pedigrees from 'a Short History of Glamorgan from the Manuscript Book of the late Revd. Edward Gamage Rector of St Athan now in the possession of Mr John Spencer of the same parish'.

A copy of Rhys Jones (ed.): Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru ... (Amwythig, 1773), with copious late eighteenth century manuscript additions entered partly in the margin and partly (largely) on bound-in leaves at the beginning and the end. The majority of the additions are in the hand of Jacob Jones, recipient of the volume (see note, below). Part I is based on 'Llyfr Brith Corsygedol' (Peniarth MS 198) and Part II on a manuscript probably in the hand of John Jones, Gellilyfdy. There are imperfect lists of contents at the beginning of each part. Bound in at the end of the volume, also in the hand of Owen Williams, are 'englynion' ('I'r Iesu', etc.) transcribed in 1853 from a manuscript (1655) of William Salesbury of Bachymbyd; two versions of an address on 'Helynt y Cymry, eu hiaith a'u defodau, etc.' delivered at Eisteddfod Tywyn, Tre Fadog, and prepared for publication in the Carnarvon Herald; and a biography of Richard Jones ('Gwyndaf Eryri'; 1785-1848). The volume is lettered on the spine in gold: 'Owain Gwyrfai MS'.

A transcript by Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836), Llanrug, with emendations, annotations and additions, of an autobiography ('Life') of his father Peter Williams (1723-96), Methodist cleric, of Llandyfaelog, Carmarthenshire, written c. 1794, and of 'My father's own account of his Disagreement with the Methodists'.

A volume lettered 'Ballads, Deeds, Pedigrees &c. MS', being a collection in the hand of J. H. 'A Booke or Rent Booke' of rents, duties, customs and services due and payable upon the tenants of the possessions of the late suppressed monastery of Strataflorida, Cardiganshire for one year ending at the feast of St Luke the Evangelist (18 Oct.) 1608. Used as a protective cover, and bearing additional accounts is a lease, 1595, for 20 years from Gelly Meyrick and Henry Lyndley, esquires, to William Warren of Trewern, Pembrokeshire, esquire, of the grange of Castell Cossam, late parcel of the possessions of the late dissolved monastery of Whytland, Carmarthenshire.

A bound volume (formerly Phillipps MS 23566) of accounts and legal papers (largely of Messrs Lambert & Son, Bedford Row, [London]), relating to the estates of the Right Hon. Wilmot Vaughan (1755-1820), 2nd earl of Lisburne, of Crosswood (Trawscoed), Cardiganshire, a lunatic. They include payments, 1801-17, made to Lady [Dorothy] E[lizabeth] Palk and Lady Mallet Vaughan for the maintenance and support of his Lordship, pursuant to an order of 24 February, 1801; allowances, 1801-16, made to the Hon. John Vaughan [aft. 3rd earl] out of the estates; allowances, 1803-15, made to Col. [Hon. John] Vaughan for repairs and furniture on the estate in Wales, exclusive of the several items under the head of general allowances; arrears of rent, 1816, due from the Hon. John Vaughan, exclusive of the rent of the rectory house and lands at Enfield; general allowances out of the estate, 1804-15, exclusive of the ordinary repairs, solicitors, bills of costs, and the salary of the receiver appointed by the Lord Chancellor; allowances, 1809-16, made to the tenants in Wales, pursuant to agreements on re-letting the estates; mortgage debts paid off, 1807-16; mortgages remaining and annual charges, undated; annual outgoings, undated; copies of a petition in Chancery, 1820, by Lady Mallet Vaughan, one of the committees of the person of Wilmot Vaughan, deceased, for the transfer to the petitioner, as administratrix of Wilmot Vaughan, of £28,970/1/11 Bank 3% Consolidated Annuities standing in the name of the Accountant General, and of a similar petition, 1822, in respect of a sum of £30,744/8/3 (with orders for the attendance of interested parties signed by John Scott, 1st earl of Eldon); charges of Messrs James Lambert & Son, 1819-21, relating to the division of the money recovered from Greenwich Hospital for General Sir John Vaughan's share of prize money on the captures at St Eustatius; an office copy of the probate, 4 March 1800, of the will, 15 Sept. 1798, of Wilmot Vaughan, 1st earl of Lisburne, the third and seventh accounts, 1818-19, 1822, of the rents and profits of the estates received by Edward Wilson of the Strand, receiver appointed on [ ] Oct. 1816; and general payments on the estate, 1818-19.

Two composite volumes of notebooks containing transcripts by J. H. Davies, c. 1891-7, with some emendations and variant forms, of 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Tudur Aled. The transcripts are mainly from BM Add. MSS. Both volumes contain lists of contents and indexes to first lines of poems and MS 155 also includes additional miscellaneous notes and transcripts, e.g. the introductions to Y Drych Cristianogawl (1585) and Hugh Owen: Dilyniad Iesu Grist (1684). Inset is a note inscribed 'Gyda Diolch diffuant E A[nwyl]'.

Sir) [John Henry] Puleston, MP, 1884 (the death by suicide of Dean Edwards of Bangor); obituary notices, 1884, of H[enry] T[homas] Edwards, dean of Bangor; 'Christmas Sayings'; miscellaneous poetry (e.g. 'A Welsh Classic' by H. H. Ballard, 'Epitaph on the Marquis of Anglesey's Leg, which had been lost at the Battle of Waterloo' by [George] Canning, 'Poem ... on Dean Stanley' [i.e. Arthur Penrhyn Stanley, dean of Westminster] by H. E. O. Edwards, 'Speech Day' 1881, 'Esgob [Joshua] Hughes, Llanelwy', 1884, 'A Hymn, composed by Dean [David] Howell ['Llawdden'] of St David's and sung at his Funeral in the Cathedral Jan. 21 1903'); etc. Among the insets are 'Gweddi Brdynhawnol' [sic], a fragment of a draft topographical dictionary (comprising Mallwyd, Llan y Mawddwy, [Llang]ynyw, and Meifod), printed hymns, etc. The volume was originally a blank Catalogue and Register of a Parochial Lending Library under the sanction of the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge.

An early nineteenth century manuscript, in three hands, containing miscellaneous poetry. The titles include ['Ayron's vale'] (two copies), 'On the death of admiral lord Nelson', 'On the death of the right honorable William Pitt', 'Hymn', 'Ode to Christmas day', 'A Father's advice to his son: an elegy', 'Edgar and Emma A legendary tale', 'Edward and Laura A tale', 'Epitaph', 'Sequal [sic] to the tale of Edward & Laura', 'The Suppliant', 'Cerdd i fari Merch Morgan' by Taliesin Lloyd, 'On A little favorite Dog', 'The Lassie's Lament', etc.: with one exception, the poems are anonymous.

An alphabetical index by J. H. Davies of first lines of strict metre poetry by mediaeval Welsh bards, together with a similar index of abbreviations of bards' names. The index consists of a transcript of Moses Williams: Repertorium Poeticum (1726), with a large number of additions by J. H. Davies, including the additions in the interleaved copy of the Repertorium Poeticum in NLW MS 717. There are a few notes at the end of the volume, together with some insets, relating largely to the location of Welsh manuscripts. The volume is lettered 'Index. Welsh Poetry'.

Two notebooks containing transcripts of titles of Welsh ballads ('Hen Faledau Cymraeg') contained in Books I - IV of 'Llyfrau Cerddi' in the collection of W. J. Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd'), 1896. There are some annotations, partly in the hand of J. H. Davies, and in the majority of cases the corresponding numbers in J. H. Davies: A Bibliography of Welsh Ballads ... (London, 1911) have been inserted.

A transcript, in two hands, of Cwrtmawr MS 120. The interlude is said on the dorse of the title-page to have been 'Copied from an old MS by John Owen Thomas (Ioan Tachwedd) Llanrwst for 4/- October 1885 for Gwilym Cowlyd'.
