Two volumes entitled 'Llyfr o Hen Ganeuon wedi eu cyfansoddi ers 200 mlynedd. 1900'. The volumes are in the hand of J. H. Davies and contain transcripts, with annotations and collations, of 'carolau', 'cerddi', 'dyrïau', 'englynion' and 'awdlau' from the Welsh School and Cymmrodorion groups of manuscripts in the British Museum Additional Collection (MSS 14866-15089). Among the insets are a folio from an eighteenth century manuscript containing an imperfect free-metre poem ('Can'), and transcripts of free-metre poems in the hands of J. Glyn Davies and E. A. Lewis of University College of Wales, Aberystwyth.

A volume entitled 'Gweithiau Lewis Morris. Llywelyn Ddu o Fôn', being transcripts and extracts made by J. H. Davies, c. 1902, from manuscripts in the British Museum and the National Library of Wales. The collection also contains poetry in strict and free metres by Sion Tomas Owen ('y Gwehydd o Fodedern'), Michael Prichard ('mab chochydd [sic] Llanllyfni'), Sion Rhydderch, Rhist. Roberts ('clochydd Llanddeusant'), Huw Huws ('o Lwydiarth Esgob ym Mon'), and W. A volume in the hand of J. H. Davies, with a few additions by Thomas Iorwerth Ellis, containing mainly pedigrees, extracts from wills and other documents, and notes relating to Cardiganshire families, with a few pedigrees of families from the counties of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire (Charles, Phillips, and Wogan). T. I. Ellis's additions relate mainly to the pedigree of J. H. Davies's family and the connected families of Charles and Phillips. There are also extracts from Llanddewi Brefi parish registers, mainly relating to the Rowland family, and pedigrees and notes relating to the Rowland family (pp. 208-217), a list of Cardiganshire manors (pp. 45-7) and lists (pp. 122-142) of officials (beadles, etc.) of Cardiganshire manors, 1317-1444 (with gaps). The original title of the volume was 'Beirdd Ceredigion yn y Canol Oesoedd' but it contains transcripts of only two poems viz. 'Cywydd i ddioddefaint Christ (sic) ...' ('Y grog aur droediog drydoll') by Ieuan ap Rytherch ap Ieuan Llwyd, transcribed from BM Add. MSS 14866, and an 'awdl' in praise of Rhydderch ap Ieuan Llwyd 'o ywch ayronn' ('Dy annerch Rydderch vab rieddawg - hael') by Daio dy (sic), transcribed from BM Stowe MSS 959.

A collection entitled 'Casgliad o hên Gerddi difyr a digri', being transcripts, with annotations, by J. H. Davies from manuscript and printed sources, notably NLW Add. MS 9 in the hand of David Jones ('Dewi Fardd'), Trefriw, of 'cerddi', 'carolau', and a few cywyddau, by Robt. A volume entitled 'Cerddi Huw ac Edward Morris' containing transcripts by J. H. Davies mainly from NLW Add. MS 9 of 'cerddi', 'carolau', etc. in free metres by Edward Morris ([1607]-89), Perthillwydion, Cerrigydrudion and Huw Morys ('Eos Ceiriog'; 1622-1709), Pontymeibion, Llansilin. At the beginning of the volume is a list of titles, with sources, of printed poems by Edward Morris.

A volume in the hand of J. H. Davies containing 'cywyddau', with some collations, by D'd Llwyd [ap Llywelyn ap Gruffudd], Ieuan ap Rhydderch ap Ievan Llwyd, D'd ap Gwilim, D'd ap Edmwnd, Iolo Goch, Robt. Clidro, Ivan Gethin ap Ivan Lleision, J. Rhydderch, and Tudur Penllyn; the Earl Roland tale from the Red Book of Hergest, and other extracts; a list of poets whose works are represented in the Red Book of Hergest and a list of contents of the manuscript; a note on the text of 'Monachlog yr Yspryd Glan'; a calendar of a text of the laws of Hywel Dda in MS 45 in All Souls Library, Oxford; extracts, 1760, relating to the parishes of Llangeitho and Nantgwnlle from the episcopal acts of the diocese of St Davids in NLW Add. MS 25; extracts from the vestry book of the parish of Llangeitho, 1757-77; an abstract of the trust deed of [Llangeitho] meeting-house, 1770; extracts from Phillip Dafydd: Marwnad y Parchedig Mr D. Rowlands (Caerfyrddin, 1797); etc. The volume was begun on 7 February, [18]93, during J. H. Davies's residence at Lincoln College, Oxford.

A notebook containing rough material compiled by J. H. Davies towards a life of Morgan Llwyd ('o Wynedd'; 1619-59), being largely in the form of abstracts and extracts from public records, from manuscripts in the British Museum, in the Cardiff Central Library, and in the National Library of Wales, from wills in the Bangor Probate Registry and from printed sources, notably Lewys Dwnn (ed. S. R. Meyrick): Heraldic Visitations of Wales (Llandovery, 1846). Also included in the volume are entries from the parish register [of Llangower] and copies of inscriptions in Llangower churchyard, 1772-1847, relating to members of the family of Thomas Edward Ellis, MP.

A volume containing lists and abstracts of Lloyd and other wills, 1551-1679, in the custody of the Principal Probate Registry, Somerset House, London. The material appears to be complementary to Cwrtmawr MS 179. Beginning at the end of the volume is a list, with inclusive dates to 1812, of Cardiganshire parish registers, taken from [BM] Add. MS 93 [60]. Inset is a transcript of 'Marwnad Davydd Llwyd' by Hu. Lloyd from Bodl. Welsh MS e10.

A volume containing material relating to the Reverend Peter Williams (1723-96), Gellilednais, Llandyfaelog consisting almost entirely of transcripts of letters, 1783-94 and undated, written by him to his sons Eliezer Williams (1754-1820) and Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836) (see Gomer Morgan Roberts: Bywyd a Gwaith Peter Williams (Caerdydd, 1943), Atodiad VI, pp. 203-16). The transcripts were made on 27-28 February, 1896.

A volume containing 'A List of the several Freeholders & Leaseholders of the several Hundreds Precincts and Commotes within the ... County of Cardigan', 1760. The list is arranged under each separate parish, and the information is tabulated under the following columns: 'Freeholders Names', 'Places of Abode', 'Where Freeholders are Situate & what Called', 'Who promised to, or likely to be Influenced by', 'N[on] R[esidents]' and 'L[easeholders]' (where applicable), and 'Occasional Mem[orandu]ms'. The list, which was drawn up for the purpose of the parliamentary election of 1761, has been published, with an introduction by J. H. Davies, in West Wales Historical Records, vol. III, pp. 73-116, with the omission of the details relating to the way electors were expected to vote and who was likely to influence them. Following the list are imperfect 'Abstracts of the several Statutes relating to County Elections', and at the end is an index of parishes. An inscription on the fly-leaf describes the volume as a 'Freehold Book'.

A mutilated index (place and personal names) to a manuscript of Welsh pedigrees, together with an incomplete index of Cheshire names.

Harwood's Diary, containing an Almanac for 1853 ..., with entries and accounts, almost entirely in shorthand, by William Thomas, Congregational minister, Capel Isaac, Mynydd-bach, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. The accounts relate to the receipt of church collections, subscriptions to the church, etc., the payment of pew rents, the receipt of property rents, the purchase of books, periodicals and newspapers, the purchase of clothes, the payment for board, monetary loans to individuals, etc. At the end of the volume are brief accounts of quarterly and other meetings and services at Penybanc, near Llandeilo, at Capel y Maen, Gwynfe, at Ebenezer [Llangybi] and Llanfair Clydogau and at Capel Als, Llanelli.

Two emblazoned pedigree rolls of the family of Burchill (Bourghill, Burfield) of Crickhowel, Brecknockshire, the one compiled during the seventeenth and the other during the late eighteenth century. The later of the two rolls is entitled 'Parentalia Burfieldiana'.

Two essays on 'Hanes Ysbrydion (Ghost Stories) yn dal perthynas a Llangeitho ar ardal' submitted for competition at an eisteddfod or competitive meeting at Llangeitho, Christmas 1895. The essays are respectively by 'Vincit omnia veritas'. [Glyn ] and 'Jupiter' [T. Huws Davies 'when a small boy'].

A volume containing copies (?for publication) of two compositions in strict metres by Evan David ('Ieuan Myfyr Uwch Celli'), Gwernytaraw, Llangrallo, Glamorgan, being an 'awdl' entitled 'Cwymp Goliath Gawr yn yr ornest a fu rhyngddo a Dafydd mab Iesse, wedi hyny, Dafydd Brenin Israel', which was awarded the first prize at Merthyr [Tudful] Eisteddfod, 1825 (printed in Awenyddion Morganwg (Merthyr Tudful [1826]), and 'Marwnad o Goffadwriaeth am y diweddar Fardd Mr William Moses neu Gwilym Tew o Lan Taf, yr hwn a fu farw ar y 30ed o Dachwedd 1824, yn 82 oed', which was adjudged the second best at the same eisteddfod.
