Accounts, bills and receipts

The series comprises accounts for legal expenses, 1687-[c. 1704, 1733-1849, personal expenditure, 1762, 1787-1885, probate and inheritance, 1727-1863, subscriptions, 1785-1861, tax and other dues, [pre-1791]-1812, insurance bills, 1819-1860, tithe accounts, 1841-1844, 1904, receipts, 1714-1876, 1906, and a few miscellaneous accounts, 1775-1862.

Denbighshire militia papers

The series includes papers relating to the Denbighshire militia, 1801-1813, 1871-1876, and papers concerning the court martial of Capt. John Davies and others of the Western Regiment of Denbighshire Local Militia, 1813.

Papers of general political interest

The series comprises a copy of a Chichester MP's letter, 1814, draft petitions to the House of Commons, draft minutes of a meeting convened by the High Sheriff of Denbigh, draft speeches and press cuttings, [c. 1826]-1897, concerning the Corn Laws, changes to the judicial system in Wales, heavy taxation on country landowners and the consequent decline in agricultural communities, the increase in manufacturing industries and competition from abroad; typed extracts from a newspaper, mainly concerning the General Strike, 1926.

Borough election papers

The series comprises papers concerning borough elections of Denbigh and the Flintshire boroughs, including lists of burgesses voting [c. 1742], state of the poll, 1806, and an enquiry into undue election procedures, 1813.

Local government papers

The series comprises copies and abstracts of charters, [post-1719]-1825, and records of the business conducted by burgesses in Holt, Denbigh and Ruthin, 1740-1741, 1803, lists of parishes, towns, freeholders and tradesmen, 1730, [c. 1791?], 1847, and Denbigh town council election papers, 1865, 1887, 1921.

Non-family trust papers

The series comprises papers deriving from trusts involving John Wynne Griffith, [c. 1814] and 1827, and George Griffith, 1825-1879, for the administration of estates belonging to other families in Denbighshire and Flintshire.

Family trust papers

The series comprises papers deriving from John Griffith's trusteeship of Cadwallader Wynne's Voelas estate, 1712-1763, and John Wynne Griffith's trusteeship of Robert Watkin Wynne's Plasnewydd and Garthmeilio estates, 1783-1843.

The series comprises certificates and other papers relating to the ordination, clerkship and appointments of Hugh Hughes of Weeg, 1746, and members of the Griffith family, namely Robert Griffith, George Griffith, 1811-1834, and William Douglas Wynne Griffith , 1915-1920, and a roll of Ruthin school which includes two of the Griffith children, 1803.

The series comprises personal diaries of Jane Griffith, widow of John Griffith (3) of Garn, all running from January to December for each year.
