Diaries

Transcripts by Wyn Griffith of John Griffith's diaries, Nov. 1916-Feb. 1918; and a few diary entries in John Griffith's hand, 1927-1931, relating mainly to family, friends, and musical topics. A photograph of Watcyn, Wyn Griffith's brother who died in Mametz Wood in 1916, is also included.

A few hymns, carols and songs, being mainly arrangements by John Griffith, including a bound volume containing arrangements, [?1891], of two carols dedicated to May Hughes, entitled 'Carol Fair' (arrangement and words by John Griffith) and 'Wel dyma foreu'. A copy of Cân Miriam: i soprano solo a chydgan. Cyfansoddwyd gan Franz Schubert. Y geiriau gan J. Griffith. Trowyd i nodiant solffa gan W. G McNaught (London, [c. 1903]), is also included.

Miscellaneous documents, 1850-1916, including deeds, 1867 and 1877, relating to properties in the parish of Llanfaelrhys, co. Caernarvon, and copies (extracted 1916) of the wills of Henry Williams and William Parry, both of Ty Isaf in the parish of Rhiw, co. Caernarvon, proved 22 May 1850 and 5 March 1855 respectively.

Up to Mametz

Autograph copy of what Wyn Griffith describes as 'the starting point of what became Up to Mametz', an account of his experiences during the 38th (Welsh) Division's attempts to capture Mametz Wood in July 1916. The work was published in 1931.

Spring of Youth

An autograph copy, [?1935], of a 'continuation of Spring of Youth', a description of Wyn Griffith's childhood in Wales; together with a broadsheet produced by the publishers, Constable & Co. Ltd.
