A volume lettered on the spine 'Tipyn o Bobpeth', being a scrap-book of press cuttings compiled c. 1900-02 by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). On two occasions only has the compiler recorded his sources, i. e. Y Cerddor and Y Drych, but inferentially there are many cuttings from the latter. Flint], for bardic meetings; printed proposals for publishing Edward Williams's two volumes of English verse Poems Lyric and Pastoral in 1792; a ? holograph note from Mr. Dunn from St. Athans, to Mr. [Edward] Williams re the erection of a monument (in third person); a printed leaflet advertising 'New Music written and composed by John Parry' which was for sale; a printed leaflet advertising the sale by auction at Newton Nottage, Glamorganshire, September 1813, of the 'materials of the sloop Friends'; a ? holograph letter from J[ohn] Hughes from Brecon, to Mr. Edwd. A miscellaneous volume largely in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd'). There are also some transcripts by Eben Fardd and a holograph letter, 21 January 1850, from [John Jones] 'Talhaiarn', London to Eben Fardd. Preceding the blank pages at the end of the volume are some miscellaneous press cuttings and one or two items in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd '). Some of the material, including an advertisement for a literary meeting at Clynnog Fawr, 1859, has been pasted on to the pages.

The two main groups among them are those addressed to 'Nefydd' and Daniel Jones, but there are also two very much smaller groups of letters to Benjamin Jones ('P. A. Môn') and Benjamin Thomas, Baptist minister at Culmstock, Devon, and nephew of Joshua Thomas, Leominster. They are generally of personal, religious, or Baptist interest, although a number of letters addressed to 'Nefydd ' relate also to his educational activities. -- Among the subjects discussed in MSS 7163-6 are British Schools at Penmorfa, Llandygwydd, Devynnock, Llandilo, Abertillery, Llantrisant, Cwmdare, and Five Roads, Llanelly, and appeals for financial assistance for the Baptist churches at Caernarvon, Tenby, Cwmsarnddu, Llanfyllin, and Stanhope Street, Liverpool. Letters from America are chiefly of a denominational character.
