The series consists of letters written by Edwards to his brothers Edward and John (the precise recipient is not usually identified) mainly from Aberystwyth and Oxford, together with some letters written from the Continent. The letters describe his experiences and activities, both academic pursuits and leisure interests, in some detail. There are many references to family news and events.

The file comprises an album kept by O. M. Edwards while he was an undergraduate student at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. It contains a large number of autographs, poems and cuttings, various notes, and several letters addressed to Edwards. The correspondents include J. Mortimer Angus, Lewis Edwards, Y Bala, Thomas Charles Edwards (2), Ellis Jones Ellis-Griffith, John Edward Lloyd and John H. Puleston. There is also a stray letter written by O. M. Edwards.

The file comprises miscellaneous letters written during the later stages of the First World War, many written from those on active service in France recounting their experiences.
The fonds comprises letters from Edwards to various members of his family, 1882-1920, together with letters to him from his wife, son, daughter and other members of the family and early family papers, 1804-1943; letters from friends, leading figures in Welsh public life and academic associates, 1880-1920; diaries and notebooks, 1875-1920; papers deriving from his work as a publisher and editor, 1890-1920, and as Chief Inspector of Schools in Wales, 1907-1920. There are also some papers relating to the proposed biography of Edwards, and a collection of printed material accumulated by him.
