The file includes an agreement between William Mostyn Owen of Woodhouse, Salop, and Thomas Owen[s] of Gaer, Meifod, for the sale of Mathrafal, 1785; a copy release by William Mostyn Owen to John Humffreys Jones of Mathrafal and several other mortgaged premises mainly in the parish of Llanfechain, 1787; deeds for two purchases by Elizabeth Owens of Gaer, firstly from George Edward Henry Arthur Earl of Powis, of pieces of land in the tenancy of William Owen, 1786, and secondly from William Mostyn Owen, with the agreement and at the request of Thomas Owens, with John Humffreys Jones of Llanfyllin acting as trustee for the purchase, 1787; attested copy of the will of Elizabeth Owen, then of Meifod, devising Mathrafal to her grandson Thomas Owen Jones 1806; a printed ‘Act for inclosing lands in the manor of Caereinion Iscoed in the county of Montgomery’ [1810]; a release by John Whitticase of Guilsfield to Thomas Owen Jones of an annuity charged on Mathrafal, 1813; and a mortgage and bond by Thomas Owen Jones to Bruce, Simpson and Mackenzie, bankers of London, 1813, endorsed with an undertaking by the bankers to execute a reconveyance of the premises to Charles Watkin Williams Wynn, the purchaser, upon repayment of the mortgage, 1814.

The properties include Llwyn Issa, Hewl Bach, Tynyffrith, Llwynybresych and Henffridd in the parish of Derwen; Vach Lwyd Ucha, Pen y pentre, Pentre Poltas and Brynllwyd in Gyffylliog; Hafodwen in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog; Hafod, Cwmdy and an allotment of common in the parish of Llanarmon Mynydd Mawr; Plas Ucha and Tynycoed in Llanelidan; Tydy and Maes y cae in Llangadwaladr; an allotment of land on Erithig Hill and Maes Onn, Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch; Pentrepoeth, Vownog in the townships of Lloran Uchaf and Lloran Isaf in the parish of Llansilin; cottages and lands in Llangadwaladr, Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch, Bodlith, Lloran Uchaf and Lloran Isaf, Llansilin, Llanynys, Cefn Mawr, Street Issa, Acrefair, Dinhinlle, Bodylltyn and Ruabon; the Boar’s Head Inn, the Spread Eagles Inn, Sir Watkin’s Coffee House, and a stationer’s shop and printing office, Ruthin; Gwernsebon in the township of Cefn-coch and Tynant in Henfachau in the parish of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire. The purchasers include William Lord Bagot. The file also contains a numbered schedule of landowners in Hafodgynfor [Llangollen] (postmark 1843) and enclosures, 1857-1858

The vast majority of cards in this album are real photographic cards of friends and family of the donor. A few are annotated on the reverse. Included are formal and informal portraits, John Rees in WW1 uniform, wedding groups, childrens studio portraits and a few early C20th cards of British actors, actresses and music hall stars.
