Llanbadarn Fawr (Brynbras and Perfedd)

Letters patent of Elizabeth I, 1562 (copy), and James I, 1608, granting to John Pryse and Sir Richard Pryse respectively the farm of Brymbras (Brynbras) in the parish of Llanbadarn Fawr, with various tenements in the commote of Perfedd, some of which had been in the tenure of Griffith ap Ll'n Vayne, attainted, and which had been granted in 1564 to William Herle; also recording grants of lands in Llanbadarn Trefeglwys, previously in the possession of Rise ap Morys ap Morgan, felon, properties in East Pembroke, once lands of Jasper Tudor, Duke of Bedford, lands in Carmarthen which were part of the possessions of Rice Griffith, attainted, and Tir Bache, a fulling mill in Llanfihangel-ar-arth.

The Customs of Hereford

A copy of the customs of Hereford as newly written by John Chippenham, mayor of Hereford, in 1486, and exemplified by James Yayden in 1560 (ff. 1-17). Several Welsh Boroughs were granted the privileges of the city of Hereford, and the newly enfranchised corporations applied to the burgesses of Hereford to have their privileges certified to them. This manuscript begins with the answer given to the town of Drusselan in the parts of Wales in the year of Henry son of Henry I [sic], and also contains statements made at the request of the burgesses of Kermerden, Herford and Kardyff. At the end of the volume is a list of the mayors of Hereford from 1383 to 1563 in the original hand, with additions in other hands to 1605 (ff. 18-19 verso).
