Beginning from the end, in later hands, are lists of preachers heard on undated occasions; extracts from addresses or essays of a didactic nature; lists of books; entries of births, etc., 1859-67, of members of the family of Love Hughes Owen; undated particulars of collections at Talysarn [Caernarvonshire]; a memorandum of the foundation of the Building Society at Talysarn, 1865; a pledge by Robert Williams, 1866, to abstain from the chewing and smoking of tobacco ('I ba arferiad y bum yn ddarostyngiedig er yn 6 mlwydd oed'); a catechism ('Holiadau') on Chapter 3 of [Thomas Charles:] Hyfforddwr (Bala, 1807); etc.

A volume lettered 'Ballads, Deeds, Pedigrees &c. MS', being a collection in the hand of J. H. The later sequence of pagination was carried out by Mary Richards, Darowen. Amongst the later marginalia is a copy of an undated (1 May [ ]) notice to let Ty'n Bedw, parish of Llangadfan, Montgomeryshire. The spine is lettered 'Kywyddau, Achau, Compot Manuel'.

The volume also contains personal memoranda by the scribe; an incomplete list of contents; an account of a joint dinner by the Gwyneddigion and Cymreigyddion Societies at Highbury to celebrate the birthday of the Prince of Wales, 1812; 'Principal Points of Religion' and extracts from a letter from Dafydd Evan to [ ... Wynn], undated (thoughts on religion, references to Wynn family and William Vaughan). The volume was begun about the year 1808 and completed in 1849, but the personal memoranda have been continued to 1875. Seven of the 'cywyddau' are said to have been transcribed from 'llyfr maesglase' and one 'englyn' from 'hen lyfyr Cadwaladr David'.

A volume almost entirely in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen largely containing poetry ('cywyddau', 'englynion', etc.) by Rowland Williams, Sion Philip, Guttun Owen, William Philip, Dr John Kent, Dafydd ap E[dmwnt], Edmwnt Prys, Robin Ddu o Fon, James Dwnid [recte Dwnn], Thom. Williams (1817), Iolo Goch, Ifan Tew Brydydd, Taliesin, Davydd ap Gwilim, Huw Arwystl, Hugh Morris, Edward Morris, Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], [David Richards, 'Dewi Silin'], Robert Parry (Eglwys fach), David Rowlands (Plas Isa, Dolgelley), Rev. D. Davies (Castle Caereinion), John Parry, Robert Davies (Nantglyn) and Hu ap Ier. ap Robert, and anonymous poems. Among other items included are a code of manners ('Dysg Vanners dda'); a pedigree of Oliver Cromwell; a drawing and a description of a brass object discovered at Hen fryn fawr near Caersiws [sic], Montgomeryshire, 1808, 'Teilyn[g]dod a theithi yr Iaith Gymraeg', etc. [from Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'): Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain (Abertawy, 1829)]; and a diagram illustrating the civil order and the ecclesiastical order of the months. Much of the volume appears to have been written during the period 1817-18 but there are some personal and other memoranda dated to 1857. Some of the items appear to have been copied from NLW MS 2691 ('Llyfr Pant Phillip').

A volume originally used fairly extensively by Thomas Richards, Darowen as a rentroll of tithes set in the parish of Darowen, 1824-31. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are a note from the Shrewsbury Chronicle, 1829, on the 'Rearing of Apple Trees'; medical, veterinary and household recipes; and accounts of receipts and disbursements (tithes, road rates, rents, etc.) of Thomas Richards, 1827-31. The remainder of the volume was used by Mary Richards, circa 1850-4, to record transcripts of a list of books in the library of Thomas Richards, Darowen; letters from Evan Richards to Thomas Richard[s], curate of Eglwys fach, near Dovy furnace, undated (religious meditations, a pocket Bible), Ch. Meyer, Llanrhaiadr [ym Mochnant], to T[homas] Richards, Llangynyw, undated (news of W. Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], an invitation to the recipient and Arthur [James] John[e]s), Thos Jones, L[eintwar]dine [aft. of Creaton], to Thos. One of the sources quoted by Mary Richards is a manuscript of Sir Thomas Llwyd, 'Person Cemes, Sir Drefaldwyn'. The outside upper cover is inscribed '1825 Tithe Book'.

A volume, dated 1835, which was originally intended as as arithmetic exercise book for T[homas] Cynddelw Richards and was subsequently used by Mary Richards to record a list of bards, etc. who were licenced ('a gafodd Drwydd[ed]') at a Welshpool eisteddfod [?1824] and transcripts of 'cywyddau', 'englynion', etc. by Moris Evan ap Eingan [i..e. Morys Dwyfech], Gruffudd Kenrick Coch, William Llyn, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Ifan Dyfu, Edmund Prys ('Mr o Gylfyddyd'), Ywain Waeta, Howel Kilain, Howel ap Llywelyn Ymael [recte ap y Moel], Dafydd ap Edmund, Gruffudd ap Evan ap Llywelyn Vychan, Dafydd ap Gwilim, Gruffudd ap Gronw Gethin, Tudur Aled, Cuttun [sic] Owain, Gruffudd Llwyd ap Dafydd, Richard Gruffudd ap Huw, Gutto'r Glyn, Sion Tudur, Bedo Brwy[n]llys, Rhys Nant Mor, Sir Dafydd Owain, Wiliam Philip and 'Taliesin' [?1864], and anonymous poems. A manuscript containing transcripts by David Parry from the Red Book of Hergest, together with other poetry, the volume being compiled before it was given to Jesus College, Oxford in 1701. The contents of the volume are as follows: A Welsh Grammar copied from the Red Book of Hergest (col. 1117), with collations by Samuel Williams from Llanstephan MS 3, p. 472 (original foliation I-Vb, 1-7); a copy of the poetry on cols 1143-1356 of the Red Book of Hergest (original foliation 7-12b, original pagination 13-168, 169-265); followed by sixteen leaves at the end of the manuscript containing poems by Robin Ddu o Fôn, Tudur Aled, Rhys Nanmor and others, together with the pedigree of Sir Rhys ap Thomas.
Samuel Williams has copied a good many of the older material in a modernised orthography on the side left blank by the original copyist. There are also marginalia in the hand of Moses Williams. A note, probably in the hand of Samuel Williams, on p. 265 (original pagination) reads 'All the Poetry collated March 27 . 1722'.

The manuscript is written in three different hands: pp. 1-102 belong to the third quarter of the sixteenth century; pp. 103-130 to the fourth quarter of the sixteenth century; and pp. 131-146 are in the hand of Sir Thomas Wiliems in his earliest style, c. 1576.

Pp. 7-58, 61-66, 171-210 are in the hand of Roger Williams, assistant to Bishop William Morgan (1545-1604); pp. 131-137 are in the hand of Dr John David Rhys; and pp. 67-112, 139-152 are in the hand of John Powel of Talgarth, Breconshire (see pp. 67, 139; see also Peniarth MSS 27 and 45). P. 58 contains a note, 1611, in the hand of Roger Williams concerning 'the fees that goeth vpon any person in suinge owt his lyveryes', and on p. 61 is a note, 1617, in the same hand concerning the 'benefactors of the Cathedrall church of Landaphe'. Also included in the manuscript is a sermon 'in praise of theves' (p. 197), triads (pp. 200-201) and medical and veterinary recipes (pp. 199, 210b).

A manuscript in two hands containing mainly poetry of Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ab Edmwnd and others; also pedigrees of British rulers (pp. 6, 14-27, 29), which include englynion chronicling the history of British rulers from Brutus (pp. 16-22).

A manuscript containing Welsh laws and pleadings. There is a pen and ink sketch of a plough on p. 105. The margins of pp. 38-95 contain index words to the subject-matter in the autograph of William Salesbury, as in Mostyn MS 159, to which pp. 123-124 belong. At the foot of pp. 123-124 there are notes in the hand of Gruffydd Dwnn. There is also an englyn attributed to Iolo Goch in the hand of William Salesbury at the top of p. 72. The contents of the remainder of this manuscript consist of excerpts, as well as some later pleadings (e.g. p. 42). At p. 123 is a fragment of the Grail, being two columns of Mostyn MS 159.
From the invocations 'Gwenoc' (pp. 76, 112), 'Gwenod : Gwnnen' (pp. 56, 110), 'Gwenoc : Gwnen : Gwinionyd' (p. 111), and 'Gwenoc : Gwnen Gwinionyd ywch kerdin' (p. 120), it is inferred that this manuscript was written in the parish of Llan Wenog, Cardiganshire, or by a native of that parish, and the text furnishes an interesting specimen of the dialectical peculiarities of south Cardiganshire. Llanwnnen is an adjoining parish to the north-east. Both Llanwenog and Llanwnnen parishes were in the upper division of the ancient lordship of Gwynionydd. Castell Gwynionydd is supposed to have been on the summit of Côd y Vôl, near Llandysul, where the river Cerdin falls into the Teifi a little north of the church. The text of pp. 1-38 corresponds practically with pp. 464-588 of the 'Dimetian Code' in vol. i of The Ancient Laws & Institutes of Wales. The text at pp. 51-56 of this manuscript corresponds to pp. 366-378 of Volume ii of The Ancient Laws & Institutes of Wales, pp. 73-74 to pp. 122-124 and 152, and pp. 96-97 to p. 342.

A volume of transcripts of miscellaneous poems in English, Latin, and Welsh. The Welsh verse consists of one 'cywydd' each by Davydd Nanmor, Gr[uffydd] ap Ieuan, Iolo Goch, Ll[ewely]n ap Holl ap Ieuan ap Gronwy, and Mredydd ap Rys, and some thirty 'englynion', all anonymous except one which is attributed to Gruffith Llwyd.
