The section comprises the following series: printed materials, 1945-91, many produced by the Labour Party, the Labour Party Wales or the Aberavon Labour Party; typescript materlals, 1962-83, including many notes prepared for John Morris's speeches and addresses, and memoranda produced by the Labour Party; press cuttings, 1964-79, of political interest, many deriving from John Morris's political career and activities; manuscript notes, 1964-79, including many notes for John Morris's speeches and addresses; diaries, 1963-77; and stray files, 1943-90.

Pensions and benefits,

Relate to the proposal that retirement pensions and other benefits be paid directly into the bank accounts of recipients rather than at local and sub post offices.

Passenger Transport,

Papers realring mainly to the transport policy of the Labour government, especially in relation to Wales. There are some references to railway closures in Wales and the reorganisation of public transport services. Includes an undated letter from Gwilym Prys Davies.

Manuscript notes, the great majority of which are in the hand of John Morris. Some are notes for speeches and addresses and when introducing speakers, some are notes on issues or themes, and a few are notes on problems and difficulties faced by his constituents in Aberavon. There are also a few financial notes.

Correspondence and papers relating to the compulsory purchase of properties at Norton Terrace, Glyncorrwg. The properties had fallen into a state of disrepair and were unfit for human habitation.

North Atlantic Assembly,

Reports and draft reports, issues of the North Atlantic Assembly News, recommendations, texts and resolutions adopted, minutes of various committees and sub-committees, memoranda and reports, the texts of speeches delivered to various assemblies and meetings, photocopies of press cuttings and various stray papers and notes. Founded in 1955, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) serves as the consultative interparliamentary organisation for the North Atlantic Alliance. Bringing together legislators from all the member states of the Atlantic Alliance, the NATO PA provides a link between NATO and the parliaments of its member nations. At the same time, it facilitates parliamentary awareness and understanding of key security issues and contributes to a greater transparency of NATO policies. Crucially, it helps maintain and strengthen the transatlantic relationship, which underpins the Atlantic Alliance.
