A copy of part of PRO MS DL28/1/1-5 containing the wardrobe accounts of Henry, Earl of Derby, and part of PRO MS DL28/1/6 and DL28/1/10 containing the wardrobe accounts of Henry of Lancaster, Duke of Hereford. Henry IV held both these titles before his ascension to the throne.

Reminiscences of the First World War by H. Iorwerth Hughes, Liverpool, written shortly after the events described, commencing with an account of his journey from Southampton to Macedonia, followed by a brief account of army life on the Macedonian front, 1917-1918, including details of the battle of Mount Dobropolje against the Bulgarians, September 1918, together with notes on his journey home, 1919. The volume also contains an incomplete draft, written c. 1919, of an address in Welsh entitled 'Experiences with the Serbs' (ff. 24-8). A letter, 1917, in Welsh written by H. Iorwerth Hughes to his parents from Salonika has been filed separately (MS 22151iiE).

Two copies of a diary kept by Major, later Colonel, Roundell Tristram Toke of the 1st Battalion the Welsh Regiment.

Blue notebook, entitled 'Diary kept during war, 1915. 1916', containing a narrative account of the Battalion's departure from Agra, India, and redeployment in France as part of the 84th Brigade of the 28th Division, 15 Nov. 1914-11 Jan. 1915. Daily entries for most days, 12 Jan.-31 Dec. 1915, including longer entries on 18-22 Feb. (Château Rosenthal, later 'Bedford House'), 8 May (the first day of the Battle of Frezenberg) and 24-25 May (Battle of Bellewaarde). (1 volume; 102 pp. of text).

Black notebook, entitled 'Diary of the war, 1st Welsh Regiment, January to August 1915, by Major R. T. Toke, A Company', containing a narrative account for 15 Nov.-18 Jan., and daily entries for most days, 19 Jan.-23 Aug. 1915, when Toke was appointed to command the 6th Service Battalion the Bedfordshire Regiment. The black notebook appears to be an edited version of the blue notebook, frequently with fuller daily entries. The text is on one side of each opening, with the facing page containing occasional notes, maps and plans. Also an original signal during the Battle of Bellewaarde that "The attack will be renewed at 12.30am without fail and pushed right through with the bayonet till our old line of trenches is regained", 25 May. (1 volume; 1 cm. of text).

Loose enclosures, including trench maps (Wulverghem, Feb.-March 1915, and Kemmel-Wytschaete, 4 July 1915), lists of officers wounded and killed, newspaper cuttings, and letters from Cyril Lomax ('Sandy') relating to his intended regimental history, 1922. (1 envelope; 1 cm.).

A visitors' book, 1990-1995, of the exhibition 'New Traditions: contemporary Welsh craft / Traddodiadau Newydd: crefftau Cymreig cyfoes' by Charles and Patricia Aithie, which accompanied the Welsh-Yemeni Festival held in Sana, Yemen. Most entries are in Arabic; a typescript containing an English translation is included in the front of the volume. The visitors' book was transferred to NLW among the Charles and Patricia Aithie photographic collection.

Wales Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign Records,

The second donation, made in 2001, consists of the records of the Wales Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign, 1980-2000. These mainly include correspondence, posters and artwork, delegation particulars, reports on natural disasters and campaign reports and newsletters relating in particular to the Wales Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign, 1984-2000; as well as letters, leaflets, paste-ups and minutes relating to other relevant interest groups such as the Swansea Latin American Society, Cardiff Solidarity with Latin America and 500 Years of Resistance Campaign, 1986-1994. There are also reports, subject files and the particulars of workshops and courses, relating to Central America in general, 1980-1998.

The first group, donated in 1999, comprises papers relating to the Wales Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign (Ymgyrch Unoliaeth Cymru Nicaragua), 1983-1998. These mainly include executive papers, papers relating to local Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign groups, financial reports, general correspondence, papers relating to delegations made to Nicaragua and other special events, membership lists, and publicity material. The papers were used by the donor for the preparation of his book, Rwy'n gweld o bell y dydd yn dod: Cymru, Nicaragua a dyfodol rhyngwladoldeb = Afar I see the day is coming: Wales, Nicaragua and the future of internationalism (Cardiff, 1998). This group, originally listed in Minor Lists and Summaries 1999 has been added to the existing structure as sub-fonds 1-34.

Further donations, made in 2005 and 2010, comprises additional records relating to the Wales Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign, 1990-2008. These include correspondence, publicity material, delegation particulars and executive papers, and have been incorporated into the existing structure of this archive.

The 2003 donation comprises records of the Swansea Latin American Society, 1982-1998, and has been added to the existing structure as sub-fonds S. See description at appropriate level for full details.
