Letter-book, 450ff., press copies of Thomas Griffiths, accountant and agent to Nanteos estate for period 1871-84 [see also nos 283-4], relating mainly to insurance policies and accounts of the estate and other persons. ff. 420-9 were later used by S. J. Evans as secretary of Montgomeryshire Association of Headmasters and Headmistresses during 1896, copies of twelve letters being included, relating mainly to resolutions passed at meetings of the association, including two copies of a letter from S. J. Evans to J. E. Southall, Newport re his work on a Welsh Grammar, i.e. Studies in Welsh Grammar and Philology [see no. 289. For letters of S. J. Evans see nos 138-204 and 208-27. See also no. 286].

P. Heylyn, Cyprianus Anglicus: or the History of the Life and Death of ... William [Laud] Archbishop of Canterbury (London, 1668). Added on the flyleaves in a contemporary hand is a copy of Laud's will; another contemporary hand has added some marginal notes and an index on the end flyleaves. Belonged to Lewis Davies rector 'of Lhan Dyfrydog' [18 C.] and Hugh Davies rector of Llandegfan, 1778 (see title page). Original calf binding. Tipped inside the cover is an invitation from Richard Lewis to the funeral of Mr F. Edwards, Stanstay, 8 Dec. 1824, on which is endorsed a note of the several meanings of the Welsh word gwyr.
