They relate mainly to court cases concerned with the language campaign in the 1970s and contain references to the operation of the Welsh Language Act 1967 and to the activities of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg and other groups. The recipient quotes from these letters in his short study entitled David Jones, The man who was on the field: 'In Parenthesis' as straight reporting (Manchester: The David Jones Society, 1979).

The archive includes many aspects of Finch’s work, notably his concrete verse, visual poetry, sound poetry, found poetry and collage poems, and it reflects his technical experimentation with poems created on typewriters, word processors and photocopy machines.

Four envelopes, postmarked August 1967, three of which contain unofficial stamps marking the translation into Welsh of the New Testament in 1567, together with a letter, dated 8 September 1967, to the donor from the Head Postmaster at Porthmadog. The stamps, 'Y Testament Newydd 1567 1967', were designed by Tegwyn Jones, published by Y Lolfa and sold during the National Eisteddfod at Bala in 1967.

Literary papers of John Tripp, [1967]-[1975], comprising manuscript and typescript poetry (ff. 1-26, 28-116, 130-151, 166-171), short stories (ff. 117-118, 152-153) and scripts for radio plays (ff. 119-129, 154-165).
The poetry includes original manuscript and typescript working sheets (ff. 1-26), photocopies of published poems (ff. 166-171), fair typescript copies (typed by Fay Williams) and photocopies of original typescripts (typed by John Tripp) of poems, seventy-two mainly unpublished (ff. 28-100), and twenty-one published in The Meaning of Apricot Sponge: Selected writings of John Tripp, ed. by Tony Curtis (Cardigan, 2010) (ff. 130-151), and a series of twelve poems entitled 'Intervals of Heat', mainly unpublished (ff. 101-116). The short story 'Ferret and Weasel' (ff. 152-153) and the verse play for radio 'The Seed of Dismemberment' (ff. 154-165) were published in The Meaning of Apricot Sponge, while 'Confessions of an English Tutor' and 'Sketches from Provincial Love' (ff. 117-129) remain unpublished. Also included is a letter to Tripp from Meic Stephens, 9 September 1968 (f. 6 verso), and a draft letter from Tripp to John Stuart Williams, 2 April 1969 (f. 27). A list of the contents, compiled by the donor, [?2010], is also included (ff. i-v).

Ruth Bidgood poems

Some one hundred and seventy-five original poems by Ruth Bidgood, 1966-2011, mostly typescript, some are emended and a few are in manuscript (ff. 208, 212, 214, 216-217, 219).
The majority of the poems have appeared in various periodicals, as recorded by the author on the individual folios. A few only have subsequently been published in collections, including 'Cwm Pennant' (ff. 132-133) and 'Encounters with Angels' (ff. 195-201) in Symbols of Plenty (Norwich, 2006), 'Complaints' (ff. 66-71, 187-189) and 'Bringing Home the Bride' (ff. 169-170) in Hearing Voices (Blaenau Ffestiniog, 2008), and a revised version of 'Reading a Landscape' (ff. 177-181) in Time Being (Bridgend, 2009). 'The Zombie-makers' (f. 38) and 'Brianne 1970' (f. 42) were first published in Matthew Jarvis, Ruth Bidgood (Cardiff, 2012), pp. 133-134. There are multiple copies or drafts of some poems, including 'Complaints' (ff. 66-71, 187-189), 'Summerers' (ff. 129, 152), 'Apparition' (ff. 171, 208), 'Reading a Landscape' (ff. 177-181), 'Windblow' (ff. 182, 218-219), 'Elan in Autumn' (ff. 193, 213-217) and 'Looms' (ff. 194, 210). A list of contents (for ff. 1-194) in the hand of the author is ff. i-ii; the order has subsequently been revised by her. Since the author usually disposed of typescripts once the poems had been collected, this volume includes rare examples of her work.
