Pedigrees of John Humphreys of Maerdu, near Corwen, and other descendents of Merfyn Frych and his son, Rhodri Mawr. With notes on various members of the family, and references to Stowell's History of Wales, John Reynolds of Oswestry's Book of Pedigrees and Giraldus Cambrensis.

1 John Deakin of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, gent. 2 John Deakin (son of above) of Worrenshall, Shropshire, yeoman. Bond in £800 for 1, at reasonable warning given by 2, within 7 years, to suffer one fine to 2 of the m. and tmt in Worrenshall and Woodlands, according to a deed of bargain and sale made by 1 to 2, of date 12th May 1643. 1 Seal. Damaged.

Taken from various sources including Robert Vaughan of Hengwrt's Notes on British History (1663), Caradoc of Lancarvan's History of Wales (1584), and a book in Shrewsbury Free School Library.

Includes notes on the country of Elis, from [Peter] Heylin's Cosmography [1652], and variations on the name Elis or Elisha.

Memorandum for the payment of disbanding money to "L[ord] Denby's men, Col. Jackson's men, Capt. Bannister" and "Capt. Stours troops", and "for neglect of disbanding money to Cowper corporall under Capt. Stour".

With notes on the origins of coat-of-arms.

Memorandum describing the intended route of a canal between the river Severn and river Wever, to communicate with the river Mersey. And also between Shutborough, Staffordshire, and Bewdley, Worcestershire. Dated 1766.

Most of these notes appear to have been compiled between 1745 and 1766, and relate to the Shrewsbury area and north Wales. All are in the same hand unless otherwise indicated.

A list of 60 bonds from 1618-1714, [included in this collection], giving the names of the parties, and the value of the bond in some cases. The compiler of this mid 19th century list has also added the 'anno domini' years to the original bonds.

1 J[?] Windsor. 2 Nicholas Plymley. Letter from 1 to 2 referring to conveyance of land, from 1 and his sister, for which purpose an original release and copies of the wills (of his mother and father) had been sent to Mr Butler.

Letters Of Attorney appointing 2 to demand and receive at the Royal Exchequer, Westminster, the sum of £98 3s. for the expenses of his letters patent for his office and to pass his accounts and to obtain his Quietus. 1 Seal.

Promise To Pay costs by 1 to 2 in respect of all business transacted between 1 and his son Charlton Leighton, esq., and all other business done by 2 as attorney of 1 over and above the salary of £40, as stated in Letters of Attorney, for acting as agent for collecting the annuity and other moneys due to 1, including his journey and expenses to Bath to pass his account with 1.

Affidavit in which 1 testifies that Nicholas Smyth did sign seal and deliver a Letter of Attorney (not included with affidavit), and that 1 and 2 did sign the same. Sworn before Thomas Ashby, "a master extraordinary in Chancery".

1 Richard and Thomas Harton, gent's, of Monk's Foryate, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. 2 Thomas Heyes of Shrewsbury, gent. Bond in £30 for observance of an indenture of demise made between Jane Harton, widow of Edward Harton, farmer, of Abbey (Moncks, East) Foryate Shrewsbury, and on 7th February 1637/38 of some parcels of land lying in the fields belonging to the Abbey Foryate.
