An account of the Morris family

A volume, compiled c. 1774, containing an account of the family of Morris of Piercefield in Monmouthshire and of their connections in the West Indies and in the United States. Also included are additions of a later date.

William Robinson: Antiquities of Ancient Britain (Vol. 1)

An apparently unpublished work, in two volumes, c. 1846, by William Robinson, documenting the history of Britain 'from the first traditional beginning' and including accounts of the Saxons, Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans. Both volumes contain numerous original drawings and a map of Europe. With NLW MS 91B.

Pedigrees of Glamorgan

A volume containing genealogies of Glamorgan families, written, 1677-1678, in the same hand as NLW MS 7A. Includes lists (pp. 270-85) of the manors belonging to the Earl of Pembroke, Marquis of Worcester, Earl of Leicester, Lord Bolingbroke, Carne family, Sir J. Stradling, Sir William Herbert, Sir John Aubrey, Sir Edward Lewis of Van, Sir Francis Popham and Sir Richard Basset.

A volume, in the hand of the Reverend Robert Roberts (see NLW MS 88C), containing school notes (pp. 1-9, 33-45), extracts from the Camb. Arch. Journal (p. 10) and from Harl. MS 128 (pp. 11-15), testimonials relating to Robert Roberts (pp. 16-18), pedigrees of the families of Llwydiarth and Bachymbyd (p. 19), of Glascoed, Emral (p. 20), of Cerniogau, Llwyn Ynn and Foxhall (p. 21), of Plasyward, Llannerch and Wynnstay (p. 22), of Penybont and Boras (p. 23), of Hafodunos and Teirdan (p. 24), of Chirk, Llanbedr and Plasyward (p. 25), of Penmynydd (p. 26) and of FitzHamon (p. 27), a list of earls and barons of Chester (p. 28), a list of Welsh poets in alphabetical order (pp. 29-33), and sheriffs of Denbighshire, 1541-1651, with genealogical notes (p. 49). Two draft letters, probably intended for Sir J. Rhys, have been inserted into the volume.

Music

A volume containing a collection of hymn tunes, with accompaniments arranged for the organ.

Pregethau,

A volume of sermons, in Welsh, preached at Llanddowror and Llandeilo between 11 November 1753 and 22 October 1758. The sermons were probably preached by the Rev. Griffith Jones; parts of the volume are in the hand of the Rev. Thomas Evans, later curate of Llanddowror.

A volume containing an incomplete interlude in an unknown hand (possibly Arthur Jones, whose name appears on p. 62), in which the chief characters include Warwig, Tobit, Gabael, Raguel, Sara and Anna.

A volume consisting of extracts from Dr J. Davies's Welsh Grammar, 1621, pp. 9-213 (pp. 3-103) and notes by the Reverend Moses Williams on various Welsh words (pp. 104-26).

Historical notes

The first part of the volume consists of notes on various historical characters and an account of the kings and queens of England from William the Conqueror to Mary Tudor (pp. 7-178). The remainder of the volume contains quotations from various sources and historical notes (pp. 179-300).

Pedigrees of Glamorgan and Monmouth

A volume containing genealogies of families in Glamorgan, Monmouth and other parts of Wales, pp. 1-275 having been written in 1678 (see pp. 95, 103, etc.) and pp. 276-303 in various hands of the second half of 18 cent.

Emynau

A volume, [18 cent.], containing hymns, in Welsh, by and in the hand of the Rev. William Williams, Pantycelyn. Some of the hymns were printed (very inaccurately) by Dr N. Cynhafal Jones in Vol. II of Gweithiau Williams Pantycelyn, 1891; others were published by Williams himself in the Aleluia. A letter written to the Rev. William Williams, Truro, Cornwall, by his brother, the Rev. John Williams of Pantycelyn, dated September 1816, has been inserted into the manuscript.
