Cell-gasgl Sion Lleyn ...,

A small volume entitled 'Cell-gasgl Sion Lleyn, 1805', containing 'englynion' (chiefly epitaphs), stanzas in free metre including hymn stanzas, and one or two longer poems (e.g. 'Awdl ar Dosturi 1809' and 'Pillion i Dwm or Nant herwydd ei Lyfr, sef Ban y Byd - Creglais o Groglofft &c, 1809, Ebrill 27') by and in the autograph of John Roberts ('Sion Lleyn'). Other poets represented are Griffth Williams('Guttun Peris'), W. Elias and O[wen] Griffith. There is also a list of unfamiliar Welsh words ('Geiriau Cymraeg dieithrol yn amlwg'), with the following note: 'Hyn a gymerwyd o gasgliadau Thos Prys Esqur, Plas Iolun, a D. Ddu a S. Lleyn'. On p. 58 is the note 'Mai 11. 1812 Priodais' [see Cwrtmawr MS 510, p. 106].

Composite volume of Morris Davies,

A composite volume from the library of Morris Davies (1796-1876), Bangor containing Thomas Charles, Catecism Byr ... (Bala, 1808); Owen Jones, Arweinydd i Wybodaeth neu, Y Catecism Cyntaf i Hen Bobl a'r Ail i Bobl Ieuaingc. (Bala, 1829); Rheolau a Dibenion yr Ysgol Sabbothol yn Mon ... (Bala, 1820); John Hughes, Hymnau I'w canu yn yr Ysgolion Sabbothol ... (Bala, 1821); and an incomplete glossary in the hand of Morris Davies of words (Abba - Pen-bleth) extracted apparently from Thomas Charles, Geiriadur Ysgrythyrol (Bala, 1805). At the end of the volume are pencil drawings, partly coloured, of persons representing M[argaret] A[nn] Parry, M. A. Jones etc.

Llyfrau nodiadau D. Silvan Evans,

A group of ten notebooks in the hand of D. Silvan Evans, mainly either relating to his contributions to Encyclopaedia Cambrensis. Y Gwyddoniadur Cymreig (Denbigh, 1856-79) or comprising glossaries and texts on Welsh orthography. Among the titles are 'Gwyddoniadur. List of Articles Contributed', 1853-6; 'Chwanegion at y Gwyddoniadur' (with 'Gee's Statement, 1854, and a receipt from D. S. Evans, 16 February 1856); 'Attotiad i Fynegai y [Gw]yddoniadur Cymreig]; 'Arddygraff yr Iaith Gymraeg: ar Gynllun y Parch. D. Silvan Evans, 1853' (Argraffedig yn Ninbych, 1854') [sic] (on the cover: 'Proof received, Feb. 25, 1854. Llythyraeth yr Iaith Gymraeg: Cofrestr Egwyddorawl ar gynllun y Parch. D. Silvan Evans'); 'Rheithiadur Llythyraeth a Llafariaeth yr Iaith Gymraeg' ('Dechreuwyd Gorphenaf 26, 1850'); 'Adgofiedydd-Llythyraeth. Tach. 3, 1856'; 'Cyhydedd Geiriau Unsill y Gymraeg. The Quantity of Welsh Monosyllables' ('Argraffedig gan mwyaf, ond nid y cwbl oll, yn "Llythyraeth yr Iaith Gymraeg", Pen. IV (Caerfyrddin, 1861, 16 plyg)'; 'Henafion Cymreig - Geiriadur o Henafiaethau Cymreig'; 'Allan o "Gynghorion Priodor o Garedigion i Ddeiliaid ei Dyddynod" (Llundain, 1800, 8 plyg)' (a glossary based on the Welsh translation of Thomas Johnes, A Cardiganshire Landlord's Advice to his Tenants); 'Welsh Laws' (a glossary); etc.

Scrap-book of 'Myrddin Fardd',

A scrap-book of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') lettered 'Cadw mi gei'. The manuscript items include a list in the hand of 'Myrddin Fardd' of family mottoes of North Wales interest; English translations by Henry W[illia]m Hewlett, 34 Great James Street, Bedford Row [London], c.1827-8, and Welsh translations by 'Myrddin Fardd', c. 1876-8, of public records relating to Pwllheli and Criccieth; glossaries by 'Myrddin Fardd' of Welsh words (e.g. obscure words, flower names); an explanatory list by 'Myrddin Fardd' of Caernarvonshire place-names; entries by 'Myrddin Fardd' of sales by him of manuscripts to D. G. Goodwin, Salop, 1893, and to J. H. Davies, Cwrt Mawr, 1899-1900; entries by 'Myrddin Fardd' of births, deaths and burials of members of his family; and a holograph 'englyn' ('Beddargraff Owen Jones (Manoethwy)') by E[llis] O[wen], Cefnymeusydd, 1866. The press cuttings cover a wide range of Welsh literary and antiquarian interests and include portraits of Welsh celebrities, prospectuses and reviews of publications by 'Myrddin Fardd', prospectuses of Arwest Farddol Glan Geirionydd, 1880, 1888-9, fragments of Y Beibl Cyssegr-Lan (1588), being the first complete Welsh translation of the Bible (with notes by 'Myrddin Fardd' on the disposal of two copies of this edition of the Bible once in his possession), etc. The volume is numbered '1' on the upper cover and on the upper end-paper.

Vocabularies,

A small notebook bearing the name of 'Evan Evans, Trefriw, Carnarvonshire' [i.e. 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'; 1795-1855] containing Welsh, Greek and Latin vocabularies. The cover appears to be part of printed proposals for a Family Bible, 1814, and the contents appear to be of about the same date.
