Letters, 1882-1894, from J. H. Davies to members of his family, mainly his mother and father. Most of the letters describe in some detail his experiences whilst an undergraduate student at Lincoln College, Oxford.

A notebook in the hand of J. H. Davies, 21 October 1891, containing notes of lectures by O. M. Edwards [at Lincoln College, Oxford] on constitutional history. Beginning at the end is a home-made thumb-nail glossary by J. H. Davies partly of words in the poetry of Tudur Aled and partly of Welsh ballads recorded under authors' surnames or first lines.

The series comprises notes and items assembled by Sir Ifan whilst at school or university, including school reports from Oxford High School, Oxford Preparatory School and Bala County School.
