Property tax assessment book, 1852, for the town of Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire, listing the names of occupiers and owners of properties, arranged according to street name.
A contemporary inscription on the wrapper identifies the collectors as Edward Ellis and Lewis Hopkins.

The file comprises papers relating to a proposal by Aberystwyth Borough Council for wide-ranging modifications to the county structure including a Mid-Wales authority (comprising Montgomeryshire, Radnorshire, Breconshire and parts of Cardiganshire and Merionethshire), a West-Wales authority comrprising Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and part of Cardiganshire), a north-west Wales authority and a north-east Wales authority, including notes of meetings between the Commissioners and Aberystwyth Borough and Rural District councils along with a note by Moelwyn Hughes on a visit to Carmarthenshire, Cardiganshire and Pembrokeshire councils noting the opposition of these authorities towards any potential amalgamation.
