Script of a lecture given by Ted Harrison, at the National Library of Wales in December 2022 entitled 'The boy from Barry who became a Fleet Street legend', on the cartoonist Leslie Gilbert Illingworth. Also included are photocopies of the slides used in the lecture.

Papers of author and academic Dr John Pikoulis, almost all of which relate to his research into the life of Second World War Anglo-Welsh poet Alun Lewis (1915-1944) in the course of editing his anthology of Lewis's works Alun Lewis: A Miscellany of his Writings (Poetry Wales Press, 1982) and of compiling his two memoirs Alun Lewis: A Life (Poetry Wales Press, 1984, 2nd ed. 1991) and Alun, Gweno and Freda (Seren Books, 2015), the latter focusing on Lewis's relationship with his wife Gweno and with Freda Aykroyd, his mistress and muse whilst he was on active service in India from 1942 to 1944, the 'central feature' of the collection - as expresssed by Pikoulis in his accompanying note - being the voluminous correspondence between Pikoulis and Freda Aykroyd, which spans over three decades and provides an eloquent and heartfelt account of Aykroyd's brief but passionate relationship with Lewis. The archive comprises correspondence between John Pikoulis and members of Lewis's circle of family, friends and acquaintances and with Lewis's military and work/academic colleagues, as well as correspondence with individuals who had no direct acquaintance with Alun Lewis but who contributed to Pikoulis's research and correspondence between Pikoulis and his publishers Poetry Wales Press/Seren Books regarding publication of Alun Lewis: A Life (1984) and Alun, Gweno and Freda (2015); notes taken during interviews conducted by John Pikoulis with Lewis's family, friends and colleagues, together with Pikoulis's own biographical notes on Alun Lewis; photocopied and transcribed poetry, prose and correspondence of Alun Lewis; Pikoulis's general research material comprising press cuttings, articles and other material relating to Alun Lewis and to others of the 'war poets', which includes commemorative poetry following Lewis's death and material relating to the centenary of Lewis's birth; and other papers of family, friends and colleagues of Alun Lewis which directly relate to Lewis, including responses to queries from Pikoulis or to Pikoulis's published works on Alun Lewis.
The archive also includes a small amount of material not directly related to John Pikoulis's research into the life and work of Alun Lewis, but which nevertheless was in the possession of or had been obtained by Pikoulis during his period of research.

The typescript contains annotations, corrections and underlinings throughout. The folio numbers and quotes given are not always entirely accurate.

Papers and publications created and collected by Glyn Mathias in the course of his career related to his career in journalism including his role in broadcasting from the UK Parliament, along with his work for OFCOM, Dwr Cymru and the Electoral Commission.

A copy of the donor's memoir, titled 'An unconventional childhood', describing time spent in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills (Meghalaya, India) from 1945-1960, as the daughter of Welsh Presbyterian Church missionaries.

Pedigree and achievement, 1654, of John Edwards (1619-1673) of Stanste [Stansty], Denbighshire, compiled and executed by Randle Holme II, containing thirty-nine other fully painted coats of arms, mostly impaled, tracing Edwards's descent in the male line from Coel Godebog and Cadwalader ap Cadwallon, through their mutual descendant Rhodri Mawr, alongside his paternal grandmother's descent from Morion ap Morgenew, Lord of Dyffryn Clwyd.
The names of individuals, together with additional biographical and genealogical information, are enclosed in roundels, with those of the earliest royal and noble figures being surmounted by crowns, coronets or caps of maintenance as appropriate. The pedigree is mostly arranged as two parallel lines of descent, except the final three generations where other relatives such as siblings and John Edwards's son and stepchildren are recorded, without heraldry. The title, beginning 'The Genealogie or Pedegree of John Edwards of Stanste', is given in a scroll cartouche at the head of the roll; the achievement of John Edwards, with eleven quarterings, is placed at the foot. There are a few additions in a different hand, [?1670s], including notice of the marriage of John Edwards the younger (aged 2 in 1654) to Mary, daughter of the Rev. Robert Lloyd of Llanychan; two sections of text appear to have been altered by scraping away the original ink. The pedigree is an example of Style 3 in Michael Powell Siddons, Welsh Pedigree Rolls (Aberystwyth, 1996), pp. 11-12.

Letters and papers from W. J. Macqueen-Pope (1888-1960), commonly known as "Popie". He was a theatre historian, publicist, biographer and close friend of Ivor Novello (David Ivor Davies, 1893–1951).
Many of these papers were referenced by Macqueen-Pope when writing the Ivor Novello biography 'Ivor: The Story of an Achievement'.
The papers include a small number of original letters from Novello, reminiscences and correspondence from Novello's friends and associates including his librettist Christopher Hassall, business manager Fred Allen, novelist G. B. Stern, actresses Constance Colm, Mary Ellis, Olive Gilbert, Zena Dare, Jean Webster-Brough, actors Lyn Harding, Barry Jones, Henry Kendall, Keneth Kent, Philip Desborough, costume designer Gilbert Clark, aristocratic friends Lord Cromer and Lady Juliet Duff.
The main subjects are writings by Macqueen-Pope relating to Novello (including drafts from the biography); material relating to Novello's will; Macqueen-Pope’s role in organising Ivor Novello’s funeral (including funeral addresses by Hassall, Macqueen-Pope and Rev. E. Gwyn Evans); a memorial service; the placing of his memorial bust (by Clemence Dane) at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane; Macqueen-Pope's involvement in the BBC memorial radio broadcast; an apparently unsuccessful effort to found an Ivor Novello Fellowship; and letters from Novello fans.

The archive comprises the political papers of Christine Chapman, Labour AM for Cynon Valley 1999-2016, with material related to various issues including women in politics, the campaign for legislation to ban the smacking of children and work in and on behalf of the National Assembly for Wales.

Manuscript entitled 'Four men on the road, being the simple story of a six days' motor tour in Wales by Edwin Vaughan Owen', 1920, together with one Edwardian photograph of an unidentified chapel, and three Edwardian postcards.

Scrapbooks, 1928-1936, relating to the ice skating career of Mollie Doreen Phillips (1907-1994), covering the eight years in which she was a leading figure skater; together with letters and photographs. Also included are black and white photographs of her carrying the Great Britain flag at the 1932 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, and carrying the flag in front of the Great Britain all-female ice skating team. She was the first woman to judge at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St Moritz.

Nine diaries, 1939-1947, compiled by Enid Lewis (née Lloyd), of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), together with related papers, letters and photographs, 1943-1947, and a commemorative booklet entitled Our Greatest Generation: A celebration of WW2 veterans in West Wales, 6 June 2021, held at The Penrallt Hotel, Aberporth, including a biography of Enid Lewis.

A file labelled, 'Diwylliant Cymru Heddiw. Celfyddyd. Wrexham. 23.11.66. Round Table/C'von. The Artist in Wales. Welsh Studies Group', containing manuscript notes of two lectures entitled 'The Artist in Wales' and 'The Fine Arts in Wales'. A list, originally inserted within the folder and later transferred to the accessions correspondence files, contains the following description of the papers: '4. Two manuscript lectures:- (a) 'Art and Meaning', (b) 'Diwylliant Cymru Heddiw'. These items were originally donated to NLW in September 1973, together with a collection of pen and ink drawings used to illustrate several books, a design for a dust jacket for the book Absalom fy Mab, pencil drawings of a bardic chair and designs for the Red Dragon of Wales (PB7959-62).

A folding case formerly housing a letter, 29 May 1813, from the Rev. Thomas Charles, Bala, to Joseph T. Price, Neath Abbey (now NLW MS 24045F, f. 38). Affixed to the case is a paper label attesting to the loan of the letter to the Ecclesiastical Art Exhibition held during the Church Congress at Swansea in October 1909.

A Second World War prison camp Red Cross procurement diary, May 1942 - October 1944, listing the prisoners' names, ranks, numbers, regiments, next of kin and camps, including Stalag VIIIB, Stalag XXA, Stalag XXID, Stalag XVlllA, and recording items of clothing sent by the families of prisoners, all of whom appear to be from the Aberdare area, and organised by the Welsh Red Cross.

A visitors' book, 1990-1995, of the exhibition 'New Traditions: contemporary Welsh craft / Traddodiadau Newydd: crefftau Cymreig cyfoes' by Charles and Patricia Aithie, which accompanied the Welsh-Yemeni Festival held in Sana, Yemen. Most entries are in Arabic; a typescript containing an English translation is included in the front of the volume. The visitors' book was transferred to NLW among the Charles and Patricia Aithie photographic collection.

Printed copies of three of Idris Davies's poetry volumes: (i) The Angry Summer: A Poem of 1926 (London, 1943), (ii) Tonypandy and Other Poems (London, 1945) and (iii) Selected Poems (London, 1953), each inscribed (either on the title page or on the front flyleaf) by Davies to his fiancée Morfydd Peregrine.
