Note
The Welsh Labour & Co-operative politician James Donnelly Touhig, better known as Don Touhig, was born in 1947. Prior to entering politics, Touhig pursued a career in journalism. He joined the Transport & General Workers' Union (TGWU) in 1962 and the Labour Party in 1966. His service to Gwent County Council saw him elected Member of Parliament for the south-east Wales constituency of Islwyn in 1995. In 2010, the year of his retirement, Touhig was created Baron Touhig of Islwyn and Glansychan.
