History

The Working Party was established following a report by the University Council to the University Court which in its turn was responding to a resolution passed by Undeb Cenedlaethol Athrawon Cymru in favour of a Welsh Medium College. The Working Party's brief was to study, amongst other things, the feasibility of establishing a Welsh Medium College involving not only education at University level but also a broad range of higher education. For academic and financial reasons, and because of a perceived lack of demand, the Working Party concluded in its report issued in 1975 that a comprehensive and completely new and separate Welsh Medium College could not be justified. Following the publication of its report the Working Party was wound up.
