A diary, 1858-1861, of Hugh Thomas Parry, Independent minister at Abersoch and Bwlchtocyn.

An account of a tour of North Wales, about 1850, with steel engravings, lithographs, and press cuttings bound up in a quarto album. The manuscript account runs from Chester via Gresford, Wrexham, Ruabon, Llangollen, Chirk, Oswestry, Welshpool, Llanidloes, Llangurig, Devil's Bridge, Aberystwyth, Machynlleth, Dolgelley, Barmouth, Harlech, Tremadoc, Beddgelert, Capel Curig, Llanberis, Caernarvon, Beaumaris, Conway, St. Asaph, Caerwys, Holywell, Flint, and Northop to Hawarden. The tourists included a Mr. and Mrs. Stamp.

A history of the parish of Llanfihangel-ar-Arth, Carmarthenshire, by John Daniel Evans, Pencader, afterwards of Tal-y-bont,Cardiganshire, 1921.

Seven letters, [1936]-[1940], from Dot [Dorothy] Watkins, the poet Vernon Watkins's sister, to Eric Viktor ('Fig') Falk (1909-79), the donor's uncle. Vernon and Fig met at Repton School, and Fig got to know the Watkins family after he was invited to spend the school holidays at their home. Included is a note 'Memories of Eric Falk's connection with the Watkins family' by the donor Alison Watson.

An essay, written about 1913, by Dr. Hugh Jones, Liverpool, entitled 'A Scheme for the Diffusion of Knowledge of First Aid, Home Nursing, and Domestic Hygiene in Wales'.

Tune book, compiled 1812-1821 (watermark 1810), containing psalm tunes, music for a funeral anthem (ff. 4 verso-6), and hymn-tunes, noted in the hands of Edward Maesgwynne [?p. Llanboidy, Carmarthenshire], 1812 (f. 3), John Phillips, 1820 (f. 22) and Richard Jones Phillips, 1821 (f. 6). The volume belonged to John Phillips of Penrallt kibier [Pen yr Allt Ceibwr, p. St Dogmael's, Pembrokeshire] (inside rear cover). Two tunes - Pleasant Morning and New Durham - are accompanied by Welsh words (ff. 6 verso-8).
The source of one tune is noted as 'David Morgan's Book 1820' (f. 3 verso), and the authorship of two tunes - Abergeleu and Wonderful - is ascribed to the same individual, 1820 (ff. 16 verso, 18 verso, 19 verso). David Morgan may possibly be identified as Dafydd Siencyn Morgan (1752-1844), the Cardiganshire precentor and composer.

An essay in Welsh, c. 1952-1953, on the life and work of Sir Daniel Lleufer Thomas (1863-1940), presumably written by David ('Dewi') Goronwy Griffiths (1882-1958), journalist and Cardiganshire county librarian until 1948. 'Hanes Bywyd a Gwaith Syr Daniel Lleufer Thomas' was a proposed essay competition at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Ystradgynlais, 1954, and was amongst the list of subjects published in 1952 and 1953, but excluded from the Ystradgynlais list. Also included is a typescript copy (ff. 42-60) which corresponds to ff. 1-26 in the manuscript version, and a typescript copy letter, 1953, addressed to Ernest Roberts, Bangor, probably from D. Gethin Williams, solicitor, Swansea, nephew of D. Lleufer Thomas and patron of the intended competition, enquiring as to the fate of the competition. For papers of D. Manuscript and typescript copies of poetry, in Welsh, by the Reverend William Alfa Richards ('Alfa', 1875-1931), Brynaman, co. Carmarthen, comprising the winning awdl in the Central Hall, London Eisteddfod, 1922; awdlau entered for the National Eisteddfod of Wales chair competitions at Ammanford 1922, Mold 1923, Pwllheli 1925 and Swansea 1926; a pryddest entered for the crown competition at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Pwllheli, 1925; and an untitled pryddest, possibly entered for the crown competition at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Liverpool, 1929.

Notebook of Daniel Lewis (1841-1922), King Street, Carmarthen, grocer, containing accounts, 1880-1882, family memoranda and transcripts of wills, and details relating to the election of deacons at Lammas Street (Heol Awst) Welsh Congregational chapel, Carmarthen, 1841-1937.

Pedigree book, [mid 17 cent.], each page consisting of a printed arrangement of fifteen empty roundels and eight shields to accommodate four generations, together with a larger shield for an achievement; partially used to enter the Welsh ancestry of King James I, based on George Owen Harry, The Genealogy of ... James ... King of great Brittayne ... (London, 1604) (see p. 38). Apparently in the hand of Sylvanus Morgan (1620-1693) whose pedigree appears on p. 1, although a note by J. E. Oldfield (inside front cover) suggests the scribe to have been Peter Vaughan, sometime of Jesus College, Oxford.

Family papers including an article 'Dylanwad Esiampl' by Dr Rosentyl Griffiths's father Thomas Griffiths ('Brydan', 1869-1953) (see also NLW ex 1605-6); scripture notes by him and two typescript letters, 1918, from Eifion Wyn (1867-1926) to him; a brief biography of 'Brydan' by Dr Rosentyl Griffiths; poems, 1926-1952, composed by 'Brydan' on the birthdays of his daughters, Rosentyl and Bryneilen, and on other occasions; an undated photocopy from Y Darian of a poem 'Darlun yr Awen' by Daniel James ('Gwyrosydd', 1847-1920), written in appreciation after Dr Rosentyl Griffiths's mother cured him of cancer; an account written by Dr Bryneilen Griffiths (1905-1991) of her school days in Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr Tydfil, together with her lecture notes on gas warfare during the Second World War; and a typescript account 'Russia re-visited', 1964, by Dr Rosentyl Griffiths of study tours to Russia arranged by the Chest and Heart Association in London, 1960 and 1964.

The Library was kindly allowed to photocopy the diary of the novelist, poet and artist Peggy Eileen Whistler ('Margiad Evans', 1909-1958) for 1947.

Snelling (1845-1916). Periodic diary notes, 1872-1874, found loose in the volume, have been tipped in at the end (ff. 113-23).
