The collection consists of manuscript, typescript and draft material by Cynan. Amongst the poetry there are odes, long poems in free metre and in metre, hymns, carols and translations of poems. Included is a first draft of Anfon y Nico i Landwr and a copy of Cofnodion a Chyfansoddiadau Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 1924 Pontypwl with Cynan's amendments to his ode I'r Dduw nid Adweinir. The plays and dramatic productions include his pageants Hywel Harris and Absalom fy Mab. Amongst the essays is a typescript of his only novel Ffarwel Weledig, described as a romance of Macedonia. Other material includes, lectures, addresses and essays on various subjects, mostly relating to drama and Welsh literature; prayers and sermons; newspaper cuttings; correspondence; radio talks; photographs; L.P. recordings of Cynan reading his poetry. There is documentation regarding the National Eisteddfod and relating to Cynan's connection with the Free Masons.

Papers of Colonel David Williams (1752-1819) of Henllys, parish of Cilycwm, co. Carmarthen, who gave evidence at the trial of Warren Hastings. The records of his service in India for over eighteen years until his retirement in 1785 include his commission to be a lieutenant of infantry, 1773, signed by Warren Hastings; three letter books, 1781-1786, mainly of correspondence in the former year, particularly with Lieutenant Colonel Alex[ande]r Hannay; three tickets issued to David Williams for the trial of Warren Hastings; and nine letters, 1781-1805, mainly from fellow-officers. Among papers, 1798-1802, relating to Williams's service in command of the Royal Carmarthen Fusiliers is a notebook containing copies of correspondence concerning his resignation. Also included are letters, 1798-1815, some from [Sir] W[illia]m Paxton; satires, including one recording the 'Historical & Political Exploits of a D-rb-sh-re Squire' who canvassed Carmarthen in [17]66; a deed, 1784, relating to property in the parish of Llanfairarybryn; and correspondence, accounts, etc., 1826-1844, of William Jones of Henllys, who was Williams's nephew.

Smith, relating to Cymru-Cuba (Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Wales), Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Chernobyl, Caerphilly miners' hospital, Palestine Solidarity, Campaign against the Arms Trade, Communist Party, CND Cymru, the 'Cardiff three' campaign, Socialist Party Wales, Welsh Socialist Alliance, TGWU, Cefn, the Wales Assembly Against Racism and other campaign groups.

Papers of Cadwaladr Jones, Llys Cadwen, Dolgellau, including poetry, addresses, sermon notes, and family letters; a letter-book, 1903-5, containing carbon copies of letters mostly relating to his grocery business at Dolgellau; and two notebooks and a works order book, 1930-8, relating to work carried out by the Merionethshire County Council Highways and Bridges Department.

Items from the library of Glynwen Makinson's father, who held various pastorates in Wales and the United States. Included are holograph copies of three articles by him, 'The Influence of the newspaper on the world', 'Christ, the remedy for Christlessness', and 'Love and law'; a holograph copy of a lecture by him in Welsh, 'Y Boer yn ei wlad ei hun'; copies of his booklets Olion y Gwyriad (1898), and For what does our denomination stand (1894); a manuscript copy of a prize-winning elegy to him submitted at an eisteddfod at Clynderwen, 1905; and a cutting from Seren Gomer, 28 April 1905, containing a memorial poem to him.
