Six holograph letters from [Sir] W[illiam] Jones [jurist and orientalist] to ?Rich[ar]d Johnson, 1784-[1787] and undated (personal and domestic matters, points of Indian botanical interest, the writer's hymn to [the Hindu goddess] Sereswaty, his intention of composing eighteen such hymns [to various Hindu gods and goddesses] including Indra and Lacshmy, his 'Discourse on the Arabs' [delivered to the Bengal Asiatic Society, 1787]). Both the writer and recipient were resident in India.

An imperfect, quarto volume inscribed on the outer cover 'Pedigree and historical account of ye Family of the Wynnes of Gwydir'. The contents consist of a late eighteenth century text of the well-known 'History of the Gwydir Family' by Sir John Wynn of Gwydir, and, as addenda, brief pedigrees of the Wynn family of Gwydir and its collateral branches, memoranda relating to some of the persons named in the pedigrees, and an incomplete copy of the summons from Henry Tudor to John ap Meredith [of Ystymcegid] to join him on his march from Milford [Haven] to oppose Richard III (already transcribed in full in the text of the 'History'). A few of the folios containing the addenda appear to be in a hand different from that of the 'History' itself, and there is some duplication of pedigrees. Inset is a loose sheet of paper containing ?a transcript of an inscription [in Gwydir Chapel in the parish church of Llanrwst] recording the erection of the said chapel by Sir Richard Wynne [son of the author of the 'History'] in 1633, and tracing the descent of Sir Richard and his brothers and sisters from Owen Gwynedd (see also Wynnstay MS 121).

Letters, 1917-1918, from Private John Roberts of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, to his parents in Tanygrisiau, Wales. Private Roberts was taken prisoner in Germany on 23 March 1918, and included is a notification of his death, 1 August 1918, stating that he died in an accident there 31 May 1918, and was buried at East Cemetery Gelsenkirchen, together with a photograph of his grave. = Llythyrau, 1917-1918, oddi wrth y milwr John Roberts o'r Royal Welsh Fusiliers, at ei rieni yn Nhanygrisiau, Cymru. James, writ at the Request of a Noble Lord, and conveyed to him in Letters by . . ., late Secretary Interpreter to the Marquess of Louvois . . . (London, 1697).

A draft copy of the first part (letters A-M) of a proposed concordance to the Welsh Bible [compiled by David Griffiths of Holywell, co. Flint].

A telegram from the P[ress] A[ssociation] to the Cambrian News, Aberystwyth, [ ] September [19]39, quoting unconfirmed Associated Press reports of fighting at Danzig and the bombing of Polish towns, a Reuter statement relating to a broadcast by Hitler and the proclamation by Danzig of itself as a part of Germany, and unconfirmed reports from Paris of the beginning of the German offensive.

A note-book containing eleven Welsh sermons, 1862-1864, by, and in the hand of, Robert Jones Derfel. At the end of each sermon the author has added his signature and a date, and, on five occasions, a place-name (Clynog, Machynlleth, Maentwrog, and Manchester (2)). These signatures, dates, and place-names were subsequently deleted. At the beginning of the volume is a table of contents, and notes, which could be interpreted as suggestions to an editor or publisher, as to the order in which the author would like to see the sermons published, ? in a periodical.

Minutes, 1937-9, of the ‘Llewelyn Williams Memorial Tablet Fund Committee’, formed for the purpose of erecting a memorial tablet to [William] Llewelyn Williams (1867-1922) [Member of Parliament for Carmarthen Boroughs, 1906- 18, and author], near his birthplace, Brownhill, near Llangadock, parish of Llansadwrn, co. Carmarthen; also a typescript copy of an agreement, 21 March 1939, between [Mrs.] Eleanor Etna Audley Foley-Philipps of Abermarlais, co. Carmarthen, of the one part, and the Carmarthen County Council, of the other, whereby the first party agreed to lease to the said Council, as trustees, the piece of ground upon which the memorial had been erected, with right of access, etc.

Accounts, 1868-1872, relating to the British School, Treherbert, entered in a customer's account book, issued by A. Cule and Sons, Family Grocers, etc ., Pontypridd and Tre-herbert. Inset is a letter from Lil Cule, Treherbert, to [ ], [19]30, informing recipient that the writer was 'sending one book, which is very old', and that another [book], for the years 1881-1889, had been given to Mr. Dan Davies, 'as the Council wanted it', ? for checking with regard to retiring teachers' pension rights.

A volume compiled in 1939 by Francis Jones [of the National Library of Wales, later Herald Extraordinary for Wales], containing a pedigree of the family of Jones of Brawdy, Pembrokeshire, from the mid-fifteenth to the twentieth century, with ancillary pedigrees of the associated families of Jones of Greenston, Brawdy, Jones of Southfield, Llysyfran, Roberts of Tregidreg, parish of Mathry, Griffith of Mathry, Morgans, the Flemings, of Roose, Francis of St. Elvis, Jenkins of Mathry, Thomas of Rhydyrharding, parish of Mathry, Williams of Newport, and Harries of Binchurn, all in Pembrokeshire.

A manuscript copy of a song for four voices, with piano accompaniment, entitled 'Gadael Tir' [the music being by W. O. Jones, and the words by Humphrey Jones]. The song was composed for competition at an eisteddfod (Eisteddfod Talaeth Gwynedd), held at Blaenau Ffestiniog, Whit Monday, 1922.

An essay entitled 'O Ddinodedd i Enwogrwydd. John Gibson, R.A., y Mynor - Gerfiwr Cymreig Bydenwog' [From Obscurity to Fame. John Gibson, R.A., the world-famous, Welsh marble sculptor], by the Reverend B. Menai Francis [Congregational minister]. The work had won a prize at an eisteddfod held at Conway, and according to the author's obituary notice in Y Dysgedydd, 1930, pp. 73-8, had been published in an unspecified, Welsh newspaper. The present copy consists of cuttings, printed on one side only, mounted in a note-book. A manuscript list of chapter headings is given at the beginning, and a postcard photograph of the bust of John Gibson in Conway parish church, has been pasted in as frontispiece.

A copy of Lett's Office Diary and Almanac for 1879, with copious manuscript entries [by Lady Marianna Augusta Hamilton, widow of Sir James- John Hamilton, 2nd bart., of Woodbrook, co. Tyrone, and Plas Llanstephan, co. Carmarthen, ob. 1876]. From 1 January to 20 May, and from 18 to 31 December, Lady Hamilton was in residence in her London home, the remainder of the year being spent at Llanstephan. The entries relating to the period of residence at Llanstephan contain several references to the [National] schools there and at Llanybree.

A bound volume inscribed on the outer cover 'Tregrug Inclosure, 1808', and containing printed and manuscript material relating to the enclosure of lands, including wastes called Common Coad y Pane and The Forest, within the manor of Tregrug, co. Monmouth. The printed items consist of a copy of An Act for inclosing lands in the Manor of Tregrug in the County of Monmouth, 1808, and of an act relating to enclosure procedure entitled An Act for consolidating in one act certain provisions usually inserted in acts of inclosure; and for facilitating the mode of proving the several facts usually required on the passing of such acts, 2d July 1801 (London, 1807). The manuscript entries include declarations, subscribed 2 August 1808, by Thomas Fulljames [of Hasfield, co. Gloucester, gent.], as commissioner, and Robert Wright Hall [of Cirencester], as surveyor, that they would discharge their respective duties in connection with the enclosure faithfully; a nomination, subscribed 2 August 1808, by proprietors of land within the manor, of William Morgan of Mamhilad, co. Monmouth, esq., as banker in connection with the project; an affidavit, signed 9 August 1808, by George Long and William Womack, land surveyors, concerning the survey they had made of the lands to be enclosed; copies of notices of meetings to be held, and of declarations issued re public carriage-ways, public foot-paths, and private roads, 1808-1809, signed by Thomas Fulljames; reports of meetings held, and of business transacted, 1808-1809, also signed by Thomas Fulljames; copies of the announcements of allotments to be sold and of the conditions of sale; the commissioner’s statement of account, 1808-1809; and a declaration, signed by the Reverend John Thomas, clerk, and Thomas Jones, esq., Justices of the Peace, 27 June 1810, concerning the completion of certain public carriage roads.
