History

Most of the essay published in The Dying Gaul as 'In illo tempore' was taken from transcripts of tape recordings made in 1973 for a British Council recording, though it incorporates material from other sources as well. It was first published as 'Fragments of an Attempted Autobiographical Writing' in Agenda, vol. 13, no. 1 (Winter-Spring 1975). David Jones also wrote some biographical notes in 1935 for Jim Ede, and an autobiographical note for Poetry Wales in 1972. The article entitled 'Mid century authors' and an interview with Saunders Lewis also contains biographical material.
