History

The Rev. John Caleb Owen was ordained in 1883. He worked sucessively in the parishes of Eglwysnewydd, Cardiganshire, 1880s-1890s, Lanfihangel Rhos-y-corn, 1900, and Llanafan Fawr, Breconshire, 1910. Some time after 1920 he became vicar of Llangwyryfon where he seems to have stayed until 1933. He appears to have been residing near Cardiff at the time of donating his papers to NLW in 1933 and 1936. His interests evidently included the collection of material relating the history of Llanafan Fawr and other churches with which he was connected in the course of his work.
