The file comprises legal papers, correspondence, associated documents and printed material concerning Bala Urban District Council's opposition to the possibility of the closure of the branch line from Bala Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog under proposals contained in the British Transport Commission Bill 1958/59. Amongst the papers are three postcards of the general area.

Holograph letters from Lewis Edwards, Bala, to his son Llewelyn, 1864-1882 (5) (the recipient's health and his studies, the birth of the recipient's son and heir, the proposed opening of the Bala-Festiniog railway, personal); from Lewis Edwards, from Hyde Park, London, to his wife Jane, 1874 (personal); from T[homas] C[harles] Edwards, from Stratford-on-Avon and from Leamington, to his brother Llewelyn, 1867 (the writer's marriage and return to Liverpool); and from Thomas Charles [Edwards] to his mother, undated (the writer's proposed marriage, personal). Also included in the volume is a prayer, in Welsh, by T. C. Edwards, 1859.
