Two holograph letters from Anne Penny [author], Bloomsbury Square [London], to [the Reverend Baptist Noel] Turner, Oakham, Rutland, 1770-1771? (published in Hugh Lloyd: 'Mrs. Anne Penny', Journal of the Welsh Bibliographical Society, vol. III (1925-1931), pp. 38-48); and three holograph letters, 1924, relating to Anne Penny and addressed to [Hugh] Lloyd [Liverpool] from H. I. Bell, British Museum, Mary Davies, London, and B. Schofield, British Museum.

Transcripts by the donor Alice V. Nissen of the journals, 1854-1909, of Mary Ann Chadwell (1817-1909), a cousin to the transcriber's great great great grandmother. The original diaries are held here (Baker-Gabb 1187-1205).

A typewritten transcript, with manuscript insertions, by K. M. Davies and W. Lloyd Davies, Bournemouth, of the enclosure award of Henllan Wastes and Denbigh Green, 1814. The transcript was made at the County Offices, Ruthin, in November 1936. Inset are a typewritten copy of the article on the award by W. Lloyd Davies which appeared in the Bulletin of the Board of Celtic Studies, Vol. IX, pp. 247-71, and a 'pull' of the map accompanying the article.

Sixteen holograph letters, 1897-1938, with some copy replies, to Mary Melchior, William Melchior, and [Dinah] Melchior, Llandilo [Isaf] Farm, Maenclochog, co. Pembroke, etc., relating to negotiations for the sale by the recipients to the Mathew family of the reputed skull of St. Teilo. The writers include A[rnold] H[arris] Mathew, earl of Landaff, from Bromley, etc., John Hobson Matthews, Cardiff, G. M. Mathews, London, and Trevor Thomas, Carmarthen.

A manuscript of John Roberts ('Ieuan Gwyllt') used originally as a register of the pupils who enrolled in his school at Nanteos Arms [Capel Seion, near Aberystwyth] from its foundation on 12 June to 1 July 1839. The volume was subsequently used, [c. 1839-1840], to record hymn-tunes, hymns, metrical psalms, etc., by 'Ieuan Gwyllt', and notes of sermons by John Hughes, Pontrobert, [Thomas] Richards, Fishguard, David Howels, Thos. Evans, O. Williams, and H. Hughes, Llanrwst.

An elegy to W[illiam] Hughes, [Calvinistic Methodist] minister, Llanengan, co. Caernarvon, and 'chwech Penill a'r Enllibwr', both submitted for competition at a literary meeting at Penycaera[u], 1867.

A small collection of material of Lloyd George interest acquired by Mr William Griffiths, formerly of Foyle's Bookshop in London. It includes a framed photograph of Lloyd George taken in c. 1939-1940, together with a photograph of him as a young politician by John Thomas, c. 1896 (6394992/2), and a family group photograph taken at the same time and including Dame Margaret, three of the Lloyd George children, D. R. Daniel and John Herbert Lewis (6394992/3). There are two letters from Lloyd George to Daniel, dated 1902 and relating to the Penrhyn Quarry dispute and a note from Asquith, dated 1903. A group of letters to William Griffiths, mainly concerning publication matters, include letters from A. J. Sylvester, 1937-1940; Frances Stevenson, later Lady Lloyd-George, 1939 and 1950; Dame Margaret Lloyd George, 1940, and Major Gwilym Lloyd-George, 1945. Photocopies of official documents held by the Public Record Office relating to Lt Col. Emil Carl Haag of Carmarthen, who served with the 18th Hussars on the North-West Frontier of India with the Tochi Field Force and in the Tirah expedition. He served also through the South African War, being present at the defence of Ladysmith, and was wounded and mentioned three times in dispatches. Later he joined the South African Constabulary, and was in the Imperial Yeomanry. He served in the Great War with the South Wales Mounted Brigade. Articles relating to him were published in the Carmarthenshire Antiquary, volumes xxxv (1999), xxxvii (2001) and xlvi (2010).
