Nearly one hundred and fifty letters, 1773-1798, from Thomas Pennant (1726-1798) of Downing, Flintshire to Richard Bull at Stratton Road, Piccadilly, London, and elsewhere, with numerous references to Pennant's publications and to prints and drawings by Moses Griffith (1747-1819) and John Ingleby (1749-1808), the artists employed by him, etc.

An account book (1669-1740) containing entries by George Powell, of Greenhill, relating to the rents of the estate of Major-General Laugharne (D.N.B. xxxii, 203) due to Sir Robert Clayton, accounts for iron and agricultural commodities, accounts of Richard Powell, memoranda touching agriculture at Upton and Carew, Pembrokeshire and accounts of J. Bowen and of the guardian of Rees Bowen.

Portions of two letters, 1865, from John Jones (Talhaiarn) (1810-1869) written from London, when he was assisting in the Crystal Palace planning, to W. W. P. Williams, and relating to the proposed colonisation of a part of Patagonia by Welshmen; also a part of a letter from W. W. P. Williams to Talhaiarn on the same subject.

A transcript made for David Pennant, Downing, Flintshire, by John Hicken, in 1809, from the originals now in the Public Record Office, London, of a valuation, taken 47, 48, and 49 Edward III [1373-5] of the possessions of Edward, prince of Wales (the Black Prince), in North Wales, and a translation of the Great Charter of Liberties granted by Prince Edward to the burgesses of Flint, September 20, 34 Edward III [1360].

A copy of 'Speech of the Earl of Powis [i.e. Edward, second earl] in the House of Lords on Tuesday, May 23, 1843, on moving the second reading of a bill for preventing the union of the sees of St. Asaph and Bangor . . .' (London, 1843), with letters and printed papers relating to the threatened union of the sees, the object of which was to transfer the income of the see that would be suppressed to a see of Manchester. Among the papers are letters from the earl of Powis, George William, fourth baron Lyttelton, and Charles Scott Luxmoore, dean of St. Asaph.

Papers of Angharad Llwyd (1780-1866), antiquary, transcriber and collector of manuscripts and records, and daughter of John Lloyd (1733-1793), rector of Caerwys and friend of Thomas Pennant (1726-1798). The papers include correspondence, 1770-1856; poetry; an election address, 1837; pedigrees of the Wynn family of Gwydir and Wynnstay; an essay on genealogy by Angharad Llwyd; posters and circulars relating to the activities of the Ruthin Literary Society, 1824, the Hendre and Llanover theatres, Monmouthshire, 1843, and the Rhuddlan Castle eisteddfod, 1849; etc.

A letter-book, 1560-1, kept by Thomas Bentham (1513-1579) who became bishop of Lichfield and Coventry in 1569. It contains copies of letters, abstracts of letters, copies of various interrogatories and memoranda, etc. Among the persons to whom letters are addressed are the following: Edmund Grindal, bishop of London; Sir Francis Knollys, vice-chamberlain of the royal household; Sir Nicholas Bacon; the Dean and Chapter of Lichfield; William Paulet, first marquess of Winchester, lord treasurer of England; Queen Elizabeth; William Cecil, first baron Burghley; Walter Haddon, master of requests; Alexander Nowell, dean of St. Paul's; Sir Henry Sidney, lord president of Wales; Matthew Parker, archbishop of Canterbury; and Thomas Yale, 'Chauncelor to my lord of Canterberyes grace', aft. chancellor of the diocese of Bangor, etc. (D.N.B. lxiii, 283).

Ten letters, 1953-1964, from David Jones, artist and writer, to the painter and engraver Richard Shirley Smith and his artist wife Juliet Wood, mostly written, 1960-1961, while the latter were abroad studying in Italy. The letters, containing comments on David Jones's work and that of the recipients, were published in a limited edition, David Jones, Ten Letters ..., ed. by Derek Shiel (London: Agenda Editions, 1996); copy no. 1/150 was acquired with the letters and is filed with them.

Krishnu Pal's Handwriting, being an offprint of a short article by F. G. Hastings in The Missionary Herald of the Baptist Missionary Society, 1 July 1933, together with a facsimile of the letter in the autograph of Krishnu Pal, the first Indian convert to Christianity, which forms part of NLW MS 1207.

The file contains a number of letters from John Petts, Peter Petts and Brenda Chamberlain to the Vale family of Bethesda, a collection of greetings cards with drawings by the Petts brothers and Brenda Chamberlain, designed and printed at the Caseg Press, Llanystumdwy, together with copies of Caseg Press Broadsheets numbers 1 and 2.

Papers, 1979-1981, of Jean Hunt (née Ware), relating to the publication of a book she co-wrote with her husband Hugh Hunt, on her grandfather, Dr Griffith Evans (1835-1935), described by some as the father of modern veterinary science. The papers include letters from Jean Ware to Mari Ellis, who assisted with the translations into Welsh for the press releases, press cuttings relating to the publication of the book, and notes by Jean Ware on Griffith Evans taken from sources at the National Library of Wales.
