The literary and academic papers, 1921-1992, of Prof. Gwyn Jones, comprising correspondence, 1936-1991; manuscripts and typescript drafts of his literary works, 1939-1992, including poetry and prose; translations of the Mabinogion and Icelandic sagas, 1921-1991; the history of Scandinavia, 1961-1988; his work as editor of various publications such as The Welsh Review, Welsh Short Stories and the Oxford Book of Welsh Verse in English, 1935-1977; papers relating to the establishment of a national theatre for Wales, 1962-1977; articles, lectures and broadcasts on various topics, 1942-1992; together with some personal papers and publications of other authors.

A copy of The Golden Cockerel Mabinogion: a new translation from the White Book of Rhydderch and the Red Book of Hergest by Gwyn Jones and Thomas Jones (The Golden Cockerel Press, 1948), containing handwritten notes by Gwyn Jones in the front of the volume; together with a small collection of related papers and photographs, including typescript copies with manuscript amendments by Gwyn Jones, of an article entitled 'Castle in the making: Casgliad Castell Gwyn', published in The National Library of Wales Journal, vol. XXIX (1995-96), and a tribute given at the funeral of Christopher Sandford, 1983; February 2024.

Material relating to the engravings by John Petts published in Gwyn Jones: The Green Island (Golden Cockerel Press, 1946), including letters, 1945-1946, to Christopher Sandford, the publisher, from Gwyn Jones, John Petts, John [Northcote] Nash, artist, and others; two original drawings by John Petts; and some page-proofs and pulls of illustrations. Professor Gwyn Jones's letters also contain several references to the preparation for publication by the Golden Cockerel Press of Gwyn Jones and Thomas Jones: The Mabinogion (1948).

Papers of Professor Gwyn Owain Jones CBE (1917-2006), Oxford, physicist, director of the National Museum of Wales, 1968-1977, and author. Included are correspondence; papers relating to his career; book reviews of his novels; printed obituaries and tributes to him; and correspondence relating to renaming the Physics Building at Queen Mary, University of London, as the G. O. Jones Building in his honour in 2009.
