History

Herbert Millingchamp Vaughan (1829-1855) was the eldest son of Lt-Col Herbert Vaughan and Sarah Vaughan (née Millingchamp) of Plas Llangoedmore, Cardiganshire. He joined his father's regiment the 90th Light Infantry (Perthshire Volunteers) in 1847, attaining the rank of Captain in August 1854. He died on 12 September 1855 of wounds received during the 8 September assault on the Great Redan at Sevastopol.
