Sir Henry Watkin Williams Wynn was the youngest of the three sons of Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, 4th baronet, of Wynnstay, Denbighshire, by his wife Charlotte (née Grenville). Sir Henry was envoy extraordinary to the Elector of Saxony from 1803 to 1807, envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary to Switzerland in 1822, Würtemberg in 1823, and Copenhagen from 1824 to 1853; he also travelled extensively in a private capacity in Europe, Asia and Africa.
