Papers, 1969-1977, relating mainly to John Barnard Jenkins of Mudiad Amddiffyn Cymru, including copies of letters, 1971-1973, sent to Jenkins whilst he was imprisoned and correspondence, 1969-1977, relating to his and other nationalists' imprisonment and to Jenkins's appeals against his sentence, 1970-1975.

Papers of John Bedford, 1762-1791, largely relating to his time in South Wales, and deal with iron-making techniques, his interests in experimenting with and improving these techniques, and the state of his own business ventures in forging and quarrying. The papers include notes on iron-making techniques, 1763-1788; management and business papers, 1766-1791; correspondence, petitions and miscellaneous notes, 1766-1789; and quarry notes, 1762-1789.

Correspondence and other papers, 1947-1982, of the antiquarian J. D. K. Lloyd, Garthmyl, relating to his friend the poet Sir John Betjeman, including four letters, seven postcards and a compliments slip, some typed, 1970-1978 and undated, from Betjeman to Lloyd (ff. 1-4, 7-14). The letters are mostly personal, routine or frivolous; there are references to a print interview conducted by Wilfred De'Ath (f. 7) and to architectural conservation, with several mentions of Lloyd's brother, Wyndham E. B. Lloyd.
Also included are a postcard, 23 March 1970, from A. L. Rowse, Oxford, to Betjeman, later forwarded by him to Lloyd (f. 5), a postcard, 1 June 1973, from an unknown sender, enclosing a pasted-on press cutting of part of Betjeman's 'Lenten Thoughts…' (f. 6) and a carbon copy typescript letter, 23 July 1975, to Peter Topley, likely from Betjeman (f. 15); Betjeman's notes for a talk on poetry at Newtown High School, [18 December 1963] (f. 16); transcripts by Lloyd of '"9 AM" Unpublished poem by John Betjeman; of which Wyndham has his MS copy' (f. 17) and of the [12] March 1974 letter (f. 18; see f. 7); a list by Lloyd of poems omitted from [an unspecified edition of Betjeman's Collected Poems] (ff. 19-20); printed ephemera and invitations for Betjeman's Honorary Degree ceremony at Trinity College Dublin on 10 July 1975, attended by Lloyd (ff. 22-32); and press cuttings relating to Betjeman, 1947-1982 (ff. 33-40), including the 1974 Wilfred De'Ath interview 'The lonely Laureate' (f. 38; see ff. 7, 18). Betjeman signs several letters 'Evan ap etje' (ff. 3-4, 8-9, 10, 14) and addresses Lloyd as 'Widow' or 'Gwyddo' [i.e. 'Gweddw'?].

Poetry, mainly by William Jones, Llangadfan, Montgomeryshire, transcribed by John Bevan Jones from William Jones's manuscript at Llangadfan rectory.

A translation of Alexander Pope's (1688-1744) Messiah, entitled Y Messia. Cyfieithiad o Saesoneg Pope, by and in the autograph of John Blackwell (Alun) (1797-1840) and sent by him from Jesus College, Oxford, with a note dated 25 January 1826, to C. B. Smith, Mold.

Photocopies of papers, 1907-1960 and undated, relating to Jean Gregson's grandfather John Broad, Llwynypia (1862-1951), the 'Peter Pan of Welsh Music', singer and conductor of the Rhondda Veteran Maestro Singers; the papers include biographical notes, newspaper cuttings and a record of his eisteddfodic achievements, together with an extract from his diary, September 1907, recording a voyage to America and Canada with the Rhondda Male Voice Choir and a list of places visited in the USA.

Fifty letters, 1937-1961, from John Cowper Powys (ff. 6-49, 51-60 verso), one letter, 1959, from his companion, Phyllis Playter (f. 50), and six letters and two postcards, 1937-1939 (ff. 62-72), together with an inscribed photograph, 1937 (f. 61), from Llewelyn Powys, to Margaret Moon (afterwards Margaret Newton). Many of the letters contain reminiscences of Montacute, Somerset, childhood home of the Powys brothers, and birthplace of Margaret Moon. Two of the letters from John Cowper Powys (ff. 30-32 verso) are in the hand of Phyllis Playter, writing as his amanuensis. Also included are three letters, 1990, from Margaret Newton to Paul Roberts, editor of the Powys Society Newsletter (ff. 1-5).
The letters contain references to Thomas Hardy (ff. 13 verso, 40 recto-verso, 48), Theodore Dreiser (f. 44), W. B. Yeats (f. 29 verso) and Theodore Francis Powys (ff. 38 verso, 39 verso).

Sixty autograph letters, 1944-1945, 1953-1962, from John Cowper Powys to his typist Mrs Dorothy May Meech, Dorchester (ff. 1-24, 34-37, 40, 43-68, 71-72, 74-77), together with ten letters, 1955-1956, 1960-1961, from Powys's partner Phyllis Playter to Meech (ff. 25-33, 38-39, 41-42, 69-70, 73). The letters mainly concern Powys's works in progress, manuscripts sent to Meech for typing, Mrs Meech's health and that of Powys's relatives, as well as childhood recollections of Weymouth and references to house-hunting in Blaenau Ffestiniog prior to Powys and Playter's move there from Corwen in 1955. Playter's letters are evidently written at times when Powys was too ill or tired to correspond himself. A self-caricature in ink by Powys is on f. 53 verso. Also included is a photograph of John Cowper Powys inscribed to Mrs Meech and dated 20 December 1950 (f. 7).
