A bundle of papers, 1787-[1858], relating to Rev. Thomas Richards (1754-1837), vicar of Darowen, consisting mainly of correspondence, 1787-1836 and undated, to and from him relating to parochial matters such as collections for charity and the poor, events in the parish, and committal for burial. The letters are interspersed with various other papers relating to parochial matters, 1788-[1858] and undated, including an essay ‘On the Propagation & Establishment of Christian [?] among the Cymry . . . ‘ etc, undated (nos. 1-18); a list of book prices for Sunday Scholars, undated (45); documents relating to Darowen tithes, 1711-1801 (no. 46), 1825 (no. 51), 1818 (no. 74); a petition to William Wynne Esq from William Davies, Cemmes, Llanegrin, undated (no. 47); record of Poor Rate collected, 1810 (no. 48); a list of contributors from Darowen Parish to the Waterloo Association to support widows & children of those wounded in the Campaign, [?1815] (no. 49); Rates for Cuttings Turfes, 1818-1827 (no. 70); marriage certificate for David Owen, Darowen & Mary Davies, Penegroes, 1833 (no. 77); and a Darowen Register of Burials, 1816-1826 (no. 80). The bundle also contains a number of receipts, including for the Newtown Turnpike Trust, 1820 (no. 19), and John Smith Drapers, 1835 (no. 99).
