The National Library of Wales was established by Royal Charter on 19 March 1907.

Chief Executive and Librarian
Responsible for the Library and its staff, and ensuring that the Library meets its statutory duties, and charitable objectives. The Librarian is responsible for developing the Strategic and Operational Plans, and ensuring that realistic objectives and targets are set, and that these are achieved. The Librarian also offers clear leadership to the Library and operates as the Accounting Officer, with responsibility for the Library’s budgets.
David Michael
Director of Corporate Resources and Deputy Chief Executive and Librarian
Responsible for corporate services at the Library, finance, business, building facilities, ICT, income generation and fundraising.
Owain Roberts
Interim Director of Collections and Public Programmes
Responsible for all of the Library's public activities, including reading rooms, exhibitions, education service, digital access, and promotion of the institution.
