History

The house of Ty Mawr, Abergorlech, Llanybudder, Carmarthenshire, has existed since the 16th century as the home of the Price family. In 1834, it was sold to William Jones, and had been converted into a tavern, the Wheatsheaf Inn, by 1840. It was sold to David Evans in 1876, to William Williams of Myrtle Hill in 1885, and to Elizabeth Rhydderch in 1893. Elizabeth Rhydderch lived there until she died in the 1940s, when it was converted back into a ptrivate house called Ty Mawr. Her heir sold the property to S. L. Davies, who sold it to the Rev. G. T. D. Angel, who also accumulated some deeds relating to Llanllawddog parish.
