Biographical history
Arthur Pugh (1910-1986) was head of the Extra Mural Department of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He was the son of William and Sophia Pugh, of Manchester House, Tre Taliesin, Llangynfelyn, Cardiganshire. He had two sisters, Ceridwen and Laura. He spent 45 years working at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, first in the Department of Agriculture, then in the Extra Mural Department. His interests included local history, Welsh culture and Christianity. He was treasurer of Rehoboth Calvinist Methodist Chapel, Tre Taliesin. He died in Edinburgh on 15 September 1986 whilst visiting his sister.

It would appear that Arthur Pugh acquired some family papers and some of his parents' papers following their deaths.

Papers of Arthur Pugh, including personal correspondence, [1930s]-[1980s]; personal papers, including school exercise books, diaries, notes for speeches, papers relating to the membership of various societies; miscellaneous family papers, [19th century]-[20th century], including documents relating to property in Tre Taliesin and probate records, 1857-1978; letters to his parents Sophia and William Pugh, [1890s]-1959; correspondence and personal papers of his sisters Ceridwen Jones and Laura Lauder, 1915-1985; papers compiled by Arthur Pugh relating to the history of Llangynfelyn and district, 1897-1981; and financial and administrative records of Rehoboth CM Chapel, 1886-1958.
