A note in the top right hand corner of p. [i] reads 'Obijt author vel collector istius Libri an. 1680 - in Com. Monmouth AW.' and Dr. R. W. Hunt, Keeper of Western MSS. at the Bodleian Library, Oxford, confirms that this is in the hand of Antony Wood (1632-1695). Beneath the said note is a pressmark which Dr. D. M. Rogers, also of the Bodleian Library, has recognised as the shelfmark of Roger Sheldon (1623-1684). In the last century the manuscript was given to Lieut. Col. Richard Morgan of Llan San Fraed [sic] by [Sir] W. Betham, Dublin, 5 March 1816. It was subsequently given to M. Gabb by Col. Morgan in exchange for a pedigree of the Morgan family, and in September 1853 it was given to Lady Hall of Llanover by Mr. Baker Gabb. A Llanover bookplate is pasted inside the cover, together with a printed note.
