History

Cambrian Airways Ltd was one of the smaller airlines in Britain, formed in 1935 as Cambrian Air Services. In 1939, it came under the control of the Associated Airways Joint Committee, which in 1947 was taken over by British European Airways. In 1967, the company became wholly owned by BEA, along with BKS (operating in northeast England). Statistics were collected by the Board of Trade, Department of Trade and Industry until 1972 and afterwards by the Civil Aviation Authority.
