An early seventeenth century manuscript, fragile, written c. 1611-1621 and possibly earlier by Roger Williams, clerk, rector of the parish of St. Nicholas, co. Glamorgan [the scribe of parts of Llanstephan MS 41] and containing pedigrees, Welsh poetry, medical and veterinary recipes, etc. Roger Williams [TLLM, 41n, 213-4] was the son of Roger William of Prisk [in the parish of Llanddunwyd (Welsh St. Donats)] and he married Elinor Rees [daughter of Rhys Amheurug (Rees Merrick)]: his pedigree is on p. 27 of this manuscript (cf. Llanstephan MS 41, p. 173). A folio or folios are wanting at the beginning and someone has written the words 'The Isue [sic] of Gruffydd fawr [De Radyr]' opposite the first page (p. 4). Davies containing extracts from manuscript and printed sources and from public records largely relating to Cardiganshire (e.g. family pedigrees, with references to the life and work of Dafydd ap Gwilym; ministers' accounts, with lists of officers of commotes; rentals and surveys, court rolls, inquisitions post mortem, etc.).

A composite volume of notebooks in the hand of J. H. Davies containing a transcript of 'Hanes Arthur brenin y Brython' from Peniarth MS 215, with an incomplete transcript from NLW MS 1 and a covering letter in the hand of Egerton Phillimore, Corris, 1923 (see J. H. A volume containing 'Copies of Correspondence [1818-1821] which passed between the Revd. John Collier Jones of Exeter College, Oxford, afterwards Rector of that College, and the Revd. Daniel Jones, Rector of Ruckinge, near New Romney in Kent, relative to the Pedigree and Coat of Arms belonging to the family of Llanio, in Cardiganshire, of which estate the said Daniel Jones had then become the reversionary proprietor, and from which family both of them were descendants'; and pedigrees from transcripts made by J. J. Lloyd Williams, M.A., among them being 'Pedigrees of all the Gentry in the Counties of Cardigan, Carmarthen and Pembroke, faithfully transcribed from a manuscript of the late Mr. William Lewes of Llwynderw, by Sylvanus Jones, Dec. 8th 1760'. Inset is a holograph letter relating to the manuscript from J. J. Lloyd Williams, The School House, Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Carmarthen, to Alcwyn C. Evans, 1888.

Two volumes containing over one hundred and sixty holograph letters and postcards and fragments of letters from B[enjamin] Williams ('Gwynionydd') to D. Silvan Evans ('Hirlas'). The letters are addressed from a variety of places, such as Rhydlewis, Llanfihangel ar Arth, Llangeitho, Llangan, Trefilan, Cenarth, Newcastle Emlyn, Cwmdwr, Abergwennol, Llandovery, Llanddeusant, Penboyr, Pontlottyn and Llanover. The inclusive period of the letters is 1860-91 but the majority are dated within the years 1882-8. The main subjects of discussion are family bereavements and other news, South Cardiganshire pedigrees and biographies, the etymology of place and dialect names, institutions within the Established Church generally of interest to the writer, and day-to-day events and conditions of life and employment at Plas Llanofer. In addition there are copious references to other matters, such as the election of H[enry] Richard ('y dihyryn') for Merthyr [Tudful]; the recipient's edition of Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry; the writer's visits to North Pembrokeshire and South Cardiganshire parishes to examine registers; a proposed second edition of the writer's Enwogion Ceredigion; the writer's activities with the Archaeological Association; the writer's visits to Bronwydd, to St Davids, etc.; the discovery by the writer of an ogham stone at Llandygwydd; news of the family of David Owen ('Brutus'); a new lease of the writer's home at Wenallt, [in Troedyraur]; the library of D. A manuscript containing Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire and Carmarthenshire pedigrees (ff. 1-76, 80-87); the beginning of the Welsh Laws (ff. 77-79); and a table of the contents of ff. 17-76b (f. 80).
Ff. 17-76b, 80-80b are in the hand of George Owen of Henllys (see f. 59) and are dated 1577-1599; ff. 77-79b are in a later hand; ff. 83-86b belong to 1684; f. 87 is in the autograph of the Reverend Samuel Williams; and ff. 1-16b are in an eighteenth century hand.

A volume containing 'An English Pedegree & Genealogy of The Gentry of the Counties of Cardigan Carmarthen & Pembrock In Three Bookes with a table to Each of Them, Together with their Arms ffixt to Each Pedegree'. It was written in 1739 and was apparently copied from the same source as Peniarth MS. 156, which was published in West Wales Historical Records, vol. I, pp. 3-96, vol. II, pp. 1-96. Most of the pedigrees are taken down to 1739, but there are additions and insets in later hands to 1769, and one inset in the hand of W[illiam] G[wynne] S[tedman] T[homas of Carmarthen]. At the end of the volume, originally in the form of loose leaves, are notes of births, marriages, and deaths, 1695-1769, of members of the families of Lloyd of Cilgwyn and Coedmor and Lewes of Troedyraur, co. Cardigan.

A volume of pedigrees in Welsh and English, evidently compiled in Carmarthenshire about 1663 (see f. 193). The collection is poorly organised. Carmarthenshire families predominate; Cardiganshire and Pembrokeshire are well represented; some pedigrees for other parts of Wales. Mostly based on earlier sources, many on the pattern of achau'r mamau and in Welsh, many coming down to the years 1625-1628. Sources named are 'John Moythe's book' (ff. 117-124 passim) and 'Thomas Johnes of Fountaine Gate' (f. 120 verso). Folios 1-22 contain world chronology, biblical and royal lines, down to Charles II. Additions, mostly of Carmarthenshire interest, by several hands of XVII and XVIII cent., notably by an annotator active in 1706 and, it appears, by John Jones of Pant-glas (fl. 1706-1744) (see ff. 26 verso, 45 versoi, 184, 193).
