Paper; 438 pp., several more removed, originally numbered; 193 x 143; boards; XVIIth - XVIIIth cent.; Latin, English, Welsh, and Greek. A large notebook inscribed: 'Mauriceus Pughe - me iure possidet teste Ludovico. Nanney 1626', and designed to contain an alphabetical list of Latin nouns with quotations from classical sources, but subsequently used as a commonplace book. These later entries, which are in several hands, include: 'A True Copy of a paper presented to his Majesty: 1688'; various prophecies; 'kow[i]dd iymliwio ar gwin' (incomplete); a list of 'Church Wardens in the Lowar & Upar partt of pennalle', 1704-58; Bishop Ken's Morning and Evening Hymns; 'versis of all sorts', including the ballad 'London Prentis'; and a classified list compiled by Morys Oliver of the books in his possession in the year 1711.
