Commonplace Book. Paper; 215 x 150; 38 folios, some of which are fragmentary; sewn; 16th cent. The manuscript has suffered much from damp and the writing is illegible in parts. A commonplace book compiled by an officer of the diocese of Bangor about 1590. It contains legal forms and precedents; memoranda; recipes for the making of ink; a copy of the charter granted by John [Clederow], bishop of Bangor, to the citizens there; a transcript of the extent of Bangor and Maenol Bangor made in the 6th year of Prince Edward (cf., Record of Carnarvon and No. 4, 1934 list.); transcript of an inspeximus, dated 4 March 1509/10, of Henry VII's charter to the inhabitants of North Wales; a transcript of the tithes of the diocese, 1559; notes of leases and presents, 1590.
