The Cymmrodorion Medal, established in 1877, was awarded to individuals who had served Wales with particular distinction. Gwilym Hiraethog was the first to be awarded the medal, in 1883

The series includes correspondence with the Honourary Secretary, J. L. C. Cecil-Williams, relating to the Cymmrodorion Medal. A large proportion of the correspondence deals with the redesigning of the Medal in 1954-1955. There are also copies of presentation ceremony programmes and copies of addresses made at ceremonies.
