Codwyd yr adeilad cyntaf ar safle’r hyn a adwaenir heddiw fel Eglwys Goffa Whitefield ym 1756 ar ochr orllewinol Tottenham Court Road ar gyfer y pregethwr Efengylaidd George Whitefield (1714-1770), un o sylfaenwyr y ffydd Methodistaidd. Gosodwyd ei maen sylfaen gan Whitefield ym Mehefin 1756, ac fe gynhaliwyd y gwasanaeth cysegru ym mis Tachwedd o’r un flwyddyn. Ehangwyd yr adeilad ym 1759 ac, ym 1890, fe'i hail-godwyd fel Cenhadaeth Ganolog Whitefield. Fe'i dinistrwyd gan ffrwydriad tua diwedd yr Ail Ryfel Byd ac fe godwyd adeilad newydd ar y safle ym 1957. Ers 1972, bu'r adeilad yn gartref i'r Eglwys Ryngwladol Americanaidd ac i Eglwys Lwtheraidd Tseiniaidd Llundain. = The first building on the site of what is today known as the Whitefield Memorial Church, on the western side of Tottenham Court Road, was erected in 1756 for the Evangelical preacher George Whitefield (1714-1770), one of the founders of the Methodist faith. Its foundation stone was laid by Whitefield in June 1756 and the dedication service held in November of the same year. The church was enlarged in 1759, and, in 1890, rebuilt as Whitefield's Central Mission. The building was destroyed by an explosive towards the end of the Second World War and a new structure was erected on the site in 1957. Since 1972, the building has housed both the International American Church and the London Chinese Lutheran Church.
'Roedd y Diwygiad Methodistaidd yn ddiwygiad efengylaidd a adfywiodd y ffydd Gristnogol yng Nghymru yn ystod y ddeunawfed ganrif dan ddylanwad pregethwyr grymus megis Daniel Rowland (1713-1790), William Williams, Pantycelyn (1717-1791) a Howell Harris (1714-1773). Bu'r diwygiad yn ysgogiad i sefydlu enwad y Methodistaid Calfinaidd Cymreig, a adwaenir yn gyffredinol bellach fel yr Eglwys Bresbyteraidd yng Nghymru. = The Welsh Methodist revival was an evangelical movement which revitalised Christianity in Wales during the eighteenth century under the influence of such powerful preachers as Daniel Rowland (1713-1790), William Williams, Pantycelyn (1717-1791), and Howell Harris (1714-1773). The revival eventually led to the establishment of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodists (now more commonly known as the Presbyterian Church of Wales) as a denomination in their own right.
