= Marija Gimbutas (1921–1994) was a Lithuanian archaeologist and anthropologist known for her research into the Neolithic and Bronze Age cultures of "Old Europe" and for her Kurgan hypothesis, which located the Proto-Indo-European homeland in the Pontic Steppe. (Wikipedia)

= The Welsh artist Aneurin Jones (1930-2017) was born in the Wye Valley on the Breconshire/Carmarthenshire border to a farming family. His paintings tended to reflect the old way of life of rural Wales and he would often make his preliminary sketches at agricultural sales.
