In 1753 James Lloyd of Mabws, Cardiganshire, conveyed Ffosrhydgaled to John Davies of the town of Cardigan. The estate subsequently passed to Morris Davies (d. 1835) who ran several businesses in Trefechan, Aberystwyth. On his death, the Ffosrhydgaled estate passed to his nephew, James Davies. He was succeeded by his only son, Morris Davies (b. 1843), whose eldest son was James George Morris Davies (b. 1879). In 1873 the estate measured 749 acres yielding a rental of £716 a year.
