Biographical history
The Flintshire properties described here do not appear as a specific entity in the Wynnstay rentals. They mostly appear to have originated in different estates such as Plas y Ward or Penbedw and some of them never belonged to Wynnstay. The Penbedw estate was conveyed to the uses of the marriage settlement of Richard Williams and Charlotta Mostyn in 1729 (ref. Peniarth estate records, DF563-4) but did not remain in Wynnstay ownership.
