Gwasg y Brython was the publishing and printing business of Hugh Evans & Sons, Ltd, Liverpool, England. The business produced Christmas, birthday cards, and calendars, as well as publishing many Welsh books. It was founded in 1896 by Hugh Evans (1854-1934); Evans was the grandson of William Barnad (c. 1793-1867), and inherited his printed books. The company was sold in 1978 to Gomer Press of Llandysul, Carmarthenshire.

Purchased from Hugh Evan's grandson, Mr Alun Evans, Merseyside, England, 1991, and donated to NLW by the Friends of the National Library, 1992.

Records of Gwasg y Brython, 1758-1977, including sample books, 1912-1967; printer's specimen books, [c. 1920]-[c. 1974]; manuals and catalogues, [1920s]-[c. 1950]; miscellaneous publications, 1928-1965; printer's blocks and photographs, 1887-1934; miscellaneous family and business papers, 1812-1977; and books owned by William Barnad, 1758-1862.
