Archival history

The signatures of those who have attested their own pedigrees occur in the manuscript. Other signatures which appear are those of Thomas Prichard of 'Rhiwe' (pp. 3 and 617) and 'Owain Gwynedd, prydydd' (p. 154). There are entries in the hands of Peter Ellis of Wrexham (p. 80) and Robert Vaughan of Hengwrt (p. 254). The manuscript was borrowed in 1685 from Hengwrt by John Davis of Rhiwlas in order to make a copy for T. Mostyn. In 1734 it was in the possesion of Lewis Jones of Rugog (pp. 63, 295, 391) and later in the possesion of the Reverend William Wynn. It had come to Peniarth from the Penbedw branch of the familly by 1846.
