A commonplace book of John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro'; 1835-1919), Congregational minister at March, Cambridgeshire, etc. The volume, begun in 1907, includes verses entitled 'Deucanmlwyddiant Rhydyceisiad, cyfarfod dathliad, 26 Awst, 1907' by Jonathan N. Davies ('Carnalaw'; 1833-1912), Liverpool; a list of members of Rhydyceisiaid Congregational Church, Carmarthenshire, 1803-17; extracts from accounts of Glandŵr Congregational Church, Pembrokeshire, 1723-60; a list of the themes and texts of sermons preached at the bicentenary services of Rhydyceisiaid Congregational Church, 1907; transcripts of hymns by the Reverend Lewis Thomas, Bwlch-sais, Llanfyrnach (d. 1745), first minister of Glandŵr Congregational Church; extracts from a manuscript which includes notes of sermons by Lewis Thomas; holographs and press cuttings of poetry, and translations of poetry, by 'Clwydwenfro', 1908-10; notes relating to the relationships of family members of 'Clwydwenfro'; a list of baptisms at Glandŵr Congregational Church, 1750-9; a biographical note on Jonathan N. Salmau a hymnau,

A volume entitled 'Casgliad o Psalmau a Hymnau' in the hand of Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'; 1795-1855). The collection contains psalms numbered 1-150, with many omissions, and 443 hymns, of which 424 are numbered. The authors include Edmwnd Prys, Isaac Watts, John Hughes, Pontrobert, Richard Jones, Wern, Llanfrothen, William Williams, Pantycelyn, James Hughes, London, David Charles, Carmarthen, Edward Jones, Maes-y-plwm, David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'), Ann Griffiths, Thomas Charles, Bala, David Jones, Cynwyl Gaeo, Morgan Rhys, Llanfynydd, David Williams, Llandeilo-fach, Titus Lewis, Carmarthen, Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'), John Elias ('o Fôn'), John Roberts, Llangwm, Peter Jones ('Pedr Fardd'), William Edwards, Bala, John Thomas, Pentrefoelas, Morgan Llwyd ('o Wynedd'), John Williams, Pantycelyn, William Griffiths, Glandwr, William Jones, Bala, Roger Edwards, Mold, etc. There is at the beginning an incomplete subject index to the contents of the volume ('Dangoseg o'r Prif-faterion yn y Psalmau a'r Hymnau trwy y Llyfr') in the hand of the scribe. Many of the items are to be found in the collection published by the scribe under the title of Casgliad o Salmau a Hymnau ... (Caerlleon, 1829), but the manuscript bears a closer resemblance to other editions of 'Psalms and Hymns' of the first half of the nineteenth century, notably Morris Davies, Llanfyllin: Casgliad o Salmau a Hymnau ... (Bala, 1832).

Tune book,

Tune book, first compiled in the late eighteenth century, containing hymn-tunes, psalm-tunes, and folk-tunes. The tunes include 'La Carmagnole' (ff. 2 verso-3), 'Llangadvan Tune' (ff. 4 verso-5 verso), a carol entitled 'Griffith ap Cynan' (f. 7 verso), and a canon for 3 voices by Richard E[llis] (f. 16).
